Auditory In humanities, auditory art is art that is heard at one particular time. Examples of auditory art include music and poetry. Music is heard using words, sounds, tones, pitches, volumes, tempos, melodies, and harmonies. Elements of Auditory Arts Pitch- determines the highness or lowness of a sound. It’s what makes a note sound like it does. Rhythm- the pattern of sounds and silences in time. It's the beat you tap your foot to in music. Dynamics- the volume of the sound, from loud to soft. Dynamics add emotion and intensity to the piece. Timbre- the unique quality or color of a sound that makes it distinct from others. For example, why a piano sounds different from a violin, even when playing the same note. Elements of Auditory Arts Texture- how the melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic materials are combined in a composition. It can be thick or thin, depending on the number of layers. Form- the structure or organization of a piece of music. It’s how the piece is arranged, often in sections like verses and choruses. Harmony- the combination of different musical notes played or sung simultaneously to produce chords. Harmony adds depth to the music. Melody- a sequence of notes that are perceived as a single entity. It's the tune that you hum or sing along to. Combined Arts Combined arts, also known as hybrid or intermedia art, refer to artistic works that integrate multiple disciplines into a single piece. This can include blending visual arts, music, dance, theater, literature, and digital art to create a multifaceted experience. Elements of Combined Arts Narrative: The storyline or script that provides the structure. Music: The auditory component that sets the mood and tone. Dance/Movement: Choreography that expresses emotion and storytelling through physical movement. Elements of Combined Arts Visual Design: Set, costume, and lighting design that create the visual environment. Acting: The portrayal of characters and emotions through performance. Multimedia: Use of technology, such as projections and digital art, to enhance the experience. Fusions and Overlapping The fusion of different art forms leads to innovative expressions. For instance: Graffiti and Poetry-Performance: This combination merges visual street art with spoken word, creating a dialogue between the two mediums. Fusions and Overlapping Digital Art and Performance: Artists use technology to enhance live performances, integrating video projections and soundscapes into their work. These overlaps highlight how distinct art forms can inform and enrich one another. Transcreation Music to Text Transcreation involves converting music into text, which can be seen in lyrics or musical notation. This process allows the essence of the music to be communicated through written words. Text to Dance Text to dance involves translating written text into choreographed movements5. This can be seen in dance performances that tell a story or convey emotions through physical expression. Transcreation Dance to Visual Dance to visual involves creating visual art inspired by dance movements. This can include paintings, sculptures, or digital art that capture the essence of dance. Task Convene with your group regarding the Art movements plenary discussion. Assignment of topics will be posted later.
