What was the industrial revolution and what caused it? Learning goals: In this lesson Students will be able to analyze the causes and effects of the Industrial Revolution. Students will identify key inventions and technological advancements during the Industrial Revolution. Students will evaluate the impact of the Industrial Revolution on society, economy, and the environment. Success criteria: Identify at least three causes of the Industrial Revolution. Describe the effects of industrialization on the land and people. Identify key inventions that revolutionized the production process during this period. The Industrial Revolution was the transition from small cottage industries in which goods were primarily made by hand to new mass-produced goods in factories using steam and water power. The Industrial Revolution began in Great Britain around 1760 and quick spread into europe and the rest of the world. Textiles were the dominant industry of the early Industrial Revolution. The textile industry was also the first to use modern production methods. The Industrial Revolution marked a major turning point in history and almost every aspect of daily life was influenced in some way.
