The NVG Mode selector is a three-position toggle switch. The OFF position set all aircraft lights to normal mode; therefore all the cockpit lights will be available. The CKPT & EXT position will set cockpit (and the exterior) lights to the NVG mode; therefore: - The NVG-compatible lights remain available - The non NVG-compatible lights are inhibited. The ALL position selects the NVG mode for all aircraft lights (cockpit, exterior and cargo); therefore, for the cockpit lights, it has the same effect than the previous position. The Ambient Lights are controlled by analog signals received from the corresponding control knob. In addition, the Dome Lights receive the STORM status from the Dome Light control via a discrete signal. Ambient Lights are non NVG-compatible lights. Therefore, they are inhibited at power supply level when the NVG mode is selected. The NVG status is transmitted from NVG MODE switch to the SEPDCs via ADCN. The Cockpit Integral Lighting System is composed of the following subsystems: - Cockpit Instrument and Panel Integral Lighting - Cockpit Annunciator Light Test and Dimming. The Cockpit Integral Lighting system is based on a full-LED design and it is managed by a Dimming Control Unit. The Dimming Control Unit is supplied simultaneously by SEPDC 1, SEPDC 2 and EEPDC. The power supply for the numerous VU Illuminated Plates and the Lighting Modules is distributed among the three power centers as indicated on the figure. The Instruments and Panel Integral Lighting system is controlled by the INTEG LT knob. It is a potentiometer that powers on and off the panels' illumination and continuously adjusts its brightness. The Annunciator Light Test and Dimming system is controlled by the ANN LT toggle switch. It is a three-position switch: - TEST, all the annunciator lights (except the AVAIL legend of the EXT pushbutton) and alphanumeric displays illuminate at bright level - BRT, the intensity of the annunciator lights is at the maximum value - DIM, annunciator lights illuminate at half of their maximum intensity. Additionally, two knobs located under the glareshield are used to control the glareshield lighting. One knob controls the brightness of the glareshield front face panel integral lighting; the other manages the brightness of the glareshield display backlight.
