HOFFMAN ESTATES FIRE DEPARTMENT STANDARD OPERATING GUIDELINES SOG Category & Identification Number: EFFECTIVE DATE: RESPONSE GUIDELINES – 022 January 1, 2022 NIMS COMPLIANT SOG Title: Responses for Specialized Response Teams Revision: 3 APPROVED BY: NUMBER OF PAGES: Re-evaluation Date: Alan Wax January 1, 2026 Fire Chief 1 PURPOSE To provide a system for deploying the necessary qualified personnel, along with any equipment, and resources, from the Hoffman Estates Fire Department, to a stricken community, requesting the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) and NIPAS E.S.T. TEMS Team. POLICY RECEIVING THE REQUEST: On-duty USAR or NIPAS E.S.T.TEMS team members will receive a request for mobilization, through a personal paging system. When on-duty team members are due to respond, they must immediately notify their supervisor. If necessary, the Shift Commander may request hire back personnel to replace personnel who are responding to the incident. When available, personnel responding to the incident will be allowed the use of a department vehicle and must adhere to Safety Operations Guideline – 004 Passenger and Driver Safety.
