1. EXPLAIN THE RELEVANCE OF LOGIC TO A SCHOOL TEACHER (15MKS) Logic can be defined as a person's reasoning based on experience, actions, and common sense to determine the best course of action in a scenario. Logic is important for teachers because it enables teachers to determine the best course of action based on the observation and dedication of a specific student. For example, teachers need to determine whether a student can keep up with the lessons and whether or not he/she needs extra help. Teachers also need to use logic to determine if a student's behavior is acceptable for society and if they experience any difficulty of abuse in their life that can contribute to their bad behavior. Logic should be taught to students as well because it is an important tool for them to use in their everyday lives. Teaching logic is essential to teach students organizational skills, how to think clearly, and draw conclusions based on their personal experience. Some of the ways to teach logic to a person are to encourage problem-solving and teachers can create problem-solving activities, students need to learn from their mistakes and accept their failures, and teachers should ask questions and allow them to think about the answer, as well as let students form their own opinions about a subject by allowing friendly and controlled debates in class. 2. DISCUSS THE EDUCATIONAL IMPLICATIONS OF IDEALISM SCHOOL OF THOUGHT, USE RELEVANT EXAMPLES (15MKS) What is idealism? Idealism is a philosophical movement that believes that reality as we know it today is based on the ideas, thoughts, and values of humans. Some idealists believe that knowledge comes from god and that all god's knowledge should be taught. The sources of knowledge, ideas, and values are from the god, or the other world. According to idealists, the otherworld is filled with much more intelligent creatures than humans, and the other world transmits knowledge into this world. Idealism believes that all ideas and concepts are important and worthy to be taught and known. The main aims are self-realization, learning spirituality, imbracing important values, and preparing for a spiritual life. Idealism's main characteristic in a curriculum is that it is life-centered instead of child-centered. Curriculum should prepare for the child's future, and curriculum should meet all the needs of a child according to Maslow's hierarchy of needs. The role of teachers according to idealism is to guide students into spirituality, to inspire students, to be good role models, to make them believe in god, and to create a comfortable environment for students to feel safe to learn. The discipline principles of idealism are that adults should discipline students, strict rules should be followed, and restricted freedom to the child. All of these factors combined mean that children should be taught religion and all the knowledge that could exist as well as learn through strict disciplines and rules.
