What jobs are you currently working on now or where is most of your work based? **Brief** Before we start the interview, I'd like to brief you on some statistics gathered when researching our topic. - 2.7 million people are working in Ireland right now, and half a million of them are non-Irish citizens. This is about 1 in 5 workers in Ireland. - Of these, nearly 95% were in employment, with the remainder unemployed. (This is like the percentage of Irish citizens in employment versus unemployed.) This is an increase of about 72,000 non-Irish citizens in employment from April-June 2021, with about 10,000 fewer unemployed. - Of these migrants in the labour force, about 15% are UK citizens, 53% EU citizens from outside Ireland, and 32% from elsewhere in the world - As of 2023, there were 27,500 migrant workers in Ireland's construction sector, an increase of 84% (or 12,600 workers) since 2021. 1.
