# EL ESPACIO TURÍSTICO URBANO ## Percepción del espacio urbano The things that make up a city can be reduced to two main groups: - Buildings - Open spaces We will call these urban focal points, as some spaces and buildings stand out more than others. They serve to guide you in the city. They are divided into six elements: - **Nodes:** These are open or closed public spaces, where tourists can enter and move freely. - Examples: fairs, shopping malls, galleries, squares, and terminals. - **Landmarks:** these are objects, urban artifacts or buildings that stand out due to their size or the quality of their shape. - Examples: towers, monuments, fountains, billboards, churches. - **Neighborhoods:** These are relatively large sections of the city where tourists can enter and move around. - Example: La Boca, Bs.As - **Sectors:** These are smaller sections of the city that share the same characteristics as neighborhoods. They are generally the remains of an old neighborhood, whose buildings have been replaced by more modern ones. - Examples: Recoleta and San Telmo, Bs.As. - **Borders:** These are linear elements that mark the boundary between two parts of the city. It is a boundary element that separates different neighborhoods, defines the edges and outer limits of parts of the city. They can be strong or weak. - Examples: The Río de la Plata, Avenida General Paz, Bs.As. - **Paths:** These are the routes selected by tourism traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian, for moving around to visit tourist attractions and enter or leave the city. Their function in tourism is similar to the function of tourist corridors, depending on their function, they can be for travel, for walking, for vehicular traffic and for walking. - Example: Caminito, Bs.As. # PLANIFICACIÓN DEL ESPACIO TURÍSTICO ## Areas gravitacionales These are areas within an urban conglomerate where tourist activity is concentrated and attracts tourists, motivating their presence in the area. They are divided into four types: - **Terminal stations:** Air, railway, maritime, river, and bus stations. - **Concentration zones:** (Tourist facilities, other urban services) They are located in the city centers. - **Urban tourist attractions:** These do not have a regular location. They can be found in the city center, the suburbs or low-income neighborhoods. - **Exits to routes and streets that connect to tourist attractions:** These must connect with each other and with the concentration zones and with the terminal stations. ## ORDERING URBAN AND TERRITORIAL. CRITERIA FOR INTERVENTION OF THE E.T ### **What is territorial planning?** It is a public policy aimed at guiding the process of social production of space, through measures aimed at improving the quality of life of the population through the sustainable and democratic use of natural and cultural resources. ### Criteria for Intervention - **Hierarchy of access to the Tourist Centers:** They must be in perfect condition, maintained, landscaped, forested, signposted and ensure road safety - **Respecting environmental limitations:** To define the future growth of the city. - **Repeating the natural pattern of vegetation location:** - **Preserving identity:** Preserving characteristic elements of the location. - **Strengthening the cultural identity of the local community** - **Taking care of the design and maintenance of urban furniture:** - **Promoting patterns that rescue elements and materials for their signage, lighting, signage, etc.:** - **Generating fiscal incentives:** - **Prioritizing urban tourist attractions:** - **Having a correct urban image:** - **Interpretive signage:**
