Grade 9 Bench Benchmark: 9.1.1.1. Compare and contrast social, economic, cultural and technological changes to textiles, fashion and clothing Topic: 1 Apply safety procedures and practices. At the end of Grade 9 and 10, all students can master the following knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to prepare them for the next grade: Apply safety procedures and practices. Identify and explain different functions of tools and equipment in textiles and garment construction. Discuss Learning Objectives: social, economic, cultural, environmental and technological factors that infl uence the construction of textiles and clothing products. Investigate the elements of design in the production of textiles. Compare the properties and characteristics of fi bres and fabrics. Explain the processes involved in the making of fabric from fi bres. Experiment and analyse the fi bre test of natural and manmade fi bres.
