Mythology was the main source of explanation over the origins and phenomena surrounding the physical world. When Spain conquered the Philippines in the 16th century, friars led the evangelization and pacification of the Philippines. The friars were among the thinkers who remained loyal to Scholasticism. Early Indigenous Phase: Locating Filipino Philosophy It discusses the nature of philosophy, defining it as the "love of wisdom" and a collective effort by a people to acquire wisdom for living well.
