Motif Question When you hear the word Anthropology, what comes to your mind? ANTHROPOLOGY ❖ is the branch of knowledge which deals with the scientific study of man. (his works, his body, his behavior, and values, in time and space (Palispis, 2007). Also, it includes man’s physical, social and cultural development that describes and explains the phenomenon of human life. ANTHROPOLOGY ❖ helps by providing insights into strange aspects of past or even societies which historians and sociologists find difficult to comprehend and explain. Example of these strange aspects are; ✔ Conflict and violence ✔ Rituals concerning ✔ Trial by Ordeal ✔ Superstitions and ✔ Courtship and rites of passage ✔ Myths and legends witchcraft marriage ✔ Fashion ✔ Human sacrifices and others Fields of Anthropology Archaeology Archaeology examines peoples and cultures of the past. Biological Anthropology specializes in evolution, genetics, and health. Cultural Anthropology studies human societies and elements of cultural life Linguistic Anthropology a concentration of cultural anthropology that focuses on language in society. POLITICAL SCIENCE ❖ Is a systematic study of a state and its government, with the relationship of men in the community, with relations of men and groups to the state itself, and with the relation of state with other sovereign states abroad. IMPORTANCE OF Knowledge Based It provides the students the knowledge and POLITICAL understanding of a government, with all its component curricula like public, law, political theory, public administration, political SCIENCE philosophy, and political dynamics. Competence Based Indicates the objectives and underlying principle of the state that should be abided by the officials and its citizens. Skills Based Prepares the students for the future career path, be it in legal profession, government service, politics, teaching, and many more. SOCIOLOGY ❖ According to Joseph Fitcher, sociology is the scientific study of patterned human behavior. It analyzes human interaction which is essential in understanding man’s cultural make-up.
