Medical doctor - specialized in Ophthalmology to heal his mother’s cataracts. - he practiced ophthalmology in Calamba, Hongkong, and during his exile in Dapitan 2. Educator - Rizal proposed in building a school in Hong Kong but it was not realized - His school in Dapitan gave him the recognition as the “father of the community school” - His students in Dapitan were males and paid tuition through community service - He focused on liberal arts.
