Once more, we convey our congratulations to last year’s candidates, the Immanuels, for excellent performance. We challenge this year’s candidates, the Jonathans, to put more wind into their sail and aim for 100% transition to the university. Hon. Raymond Kipruto Moi Chairman – Board of Trustees 2 1 MOI HIGH SCHOOL KABARAK Remember God your Creator in the days of your youth (Ec. 12:1) BOARD OF DIRECTORS We thank the Lord for His kindness in enabling Moi High School-Kabarak to register good results in last year’s KCSE. The school’s sole vision and mission upon its establishment in 1979 of providing holistic quality education to all children under our care, based on Christian tenets, is being realized through this excellent performance over the years. Moi High School-Kabarak anchors all its undertakings on the fear of the Lord and Christian values. The Board of Directors, the School Administration, the staff, students and other stakeholders have put their trust in God first in their day-to-day activities. The school purposes to produce an all-round person who is armed to face the world bravely with book knowledge and survival skills for any psychological and social challenges. Highly-trained committed staff, as well as the disciplined and focused students are the engine behind this outstanding academic performance that has been posted over the years. Consequently, I call upon the teachers and students to work much harder and smarter to maintain these high standards that the school prides itself in. We congratulate the last year’s candidates, the Immanuels for a great performance. 2 Remember God your Creator in the days of your youth (Ec. 12:1) MOI HIGH SCHOOL KABARAK EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR As we celebrate the outstanding performance of the 2022 K.C.S.E class, the Immanuels, we are deeply grateful to God for this achievement despite the Covid-19 global pandemic that greatly disrupted our Country’s academic programmes from March, 2020. This class, the Immanuels, had only one full academic calendar in Form one in 2019 before being interrupted by this health pandemic. Consequently, school terms were shortened and the academic calendar was so rigorous that each calendar year would have four terms of learning. For this impressive performance of the Immanuels, we thank God the Almighty. Our firm and humble belief in Him bore fruits and today we are here to celebrate His continuous mercy, guidance, protection and honor. We attribute our achievements to God. In Moi High School-Kabarak, we devote all our activities to the glory of God. Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, Ph.D, MBS, OGW Executive Director. I compliment the School Administration, the teaching and non-teaching staff for their individual and collective responsibility in ensuring that the curricular and co-curricular activities go on well in school in line with the Moi High School – Kabarak core mandate as envisioned by the Second President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Daniel Toroitich arap Moi in 1979. You have achieved this due to hard work, teamwork and discipline based on strong Christian principles. The 2022 K.C.S.E class was diligent, committed, co-operative, dedicated, and persistent, never gave up, paid attention to minor details and above all, prayed to God to grant them the desires of their hearts. This is evidenced by the splendid results that they posted. Out of 351 candidates, 99.145% of them are transitioning to the university. We, the Moi High School-Kabarak family are grateful to God for this feat. We echo Psalm 115:1 Saying “Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.” I challenge this year’s candidates, the Jonathans, to work even harder and smarter so as to achieve a hundred percent transition rate to the university. It is possible. To the continuing students, I encourage you to emulate the 2022 K.C.S.E class, bearing in mind that you have a greater challenge to break if not maintain their record. The results that the 2022 class achieved indicate the great potential that you have. Identify the opportunities available in this great school and exploit your potential. From today onwards decide to move forward because you have a date with a great destiny, move beyond your limitations. Your presence in class, discussion amongst yourselves, consultation with the teachers and amongst yourselves, and punctuality at all times are the ingredients for the best academic yields. The Board of Trustees and Board of Directors have played a significant role of ensuring that all the stakeholders of this institution’s needs are met by adequately resourcing the school and tirelessly offering sound advice to the school management. I also commend the parents and guardians for their continuous support to the school and working hand in hand with the teachers so that the learner reaps the maximum benefit from the institution. Thank you dear parents and guardians for trusting Moi High School-Kabarak with your sons and daughters. 2 3 MOI HIGH SCHOOL KABARAK Remember God your Creator in the days of your youth (Ec. 12:1) EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Finally, I would also want to pay special tribute to our Patron and Founder, His Excellency, Daniel Toroitich arap Moi, CGH., The Second President of the Republic of Kenya for his foresight in establishing such a great school which caters for the educational needs of the Kenyan child and beyond. This has enabled many youth from various parts of this country to get an opportunity to not only acquire knowledge but live together as brothers and sisters as they embrace love and unity, and secondly, for being a great source of inspiration, encouragement and standing with us all the time. Though physically gone, we know in our hearts that Mzee’s legacy lives on through the special attention that he had paid to education in Kenya. Many in various spheres of life owe their success to the vision that Mzee had for the Kenyan child. H.E Daniel T. arap Moi knew that an educated mind is one of the most valuable resources to have in life. I am deeply grateful to Mzee Moi’s family, represented by the Board of Directors Chairman, Hon. Senator Gideon Moi, for advancing their father’s vision in this model school with a brand name. I do wish this year’s candidates (The Jonathans) good health and sound mind as they undertake their final lap in their secondary stage of learning. The Immanuels have set the pace, we do believe you will keep the fire burning and set another record. May Moi High School-Kabarak continue rising as per our motto On Earth We Rise for the glory of God. Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, Ph.D, MBS, OGW Executive Director. The Executive Director handing over a key of a new motor vehicle to the Chief Principal 4 Remember God your Creator in the days of your youth (Ec. 12:1) MOI HIGH SCHOOL KABARAK CHIEF PRINCIPAL Today, we celebrate Moi High School-Kabarak excellent results. We thank God the Almighty for the exemplary performance that our candidates the Immanuels posted in the last year’s KCSE. We had a candidature of 351 students. Our school posted a mean score of 10.13(B+) which was an improvement from the 2021 results by 0.38. We can, with a lot of humility, report that we had a transition of 99.145% to the university. Gender-wise, our boys and girls compete favorably. The difference in their performance is very minimal. In last year’s results, boys had a mean score of 10.14 while girls had 10.11. This shows that the equality of both gender is emphasized and both are sensitized on the need to work together for their own success here and in future. With these results, we thank God Almighty for enabling the Immanuels register such an exemplary performance. Let us not forget that this is the class which had the shortest stint as candidates since their Form 4 journey began in May last year and ran through to December with very minimal breaks. This was occasioned by the after effects of Covid-19 pandemic. Despite all these, God Almighty stood with our candidates plus their teachers and learning went on smoothly. We had put our faith and belief in Him throughout this time. Our firm and humble belief in God has paid off and we raise our eyes daily to Him for His continuous guidance, protection and honour. Mrs. Elishebah Cheruiyot, B.Ed., MBA(HRM), OGW, CHIEF PRINCIPAL. 2 5 MOI HIGH SCHOOL KABARAK Remember God your Creator in the days of your youth (Ec. 12:1) CHIEF PRINCIPAL I wish to pay special tribute to our Patron and Founder, His Excellency, Daniel Toroitich arap Moi, C.G.H., The Second President of the Republic of Kenya, a man who lived to his fullest by achieving a rare dream of setting up an ultra-modern, co-educational facility based on the Christian principles. A man whose magnanimous heart led him to put all his resources by establishing an institution that will stand the test of time by providing quality education to children from across the continent irrespective of their creed, colour and ethnic background. Many, students have passed through this school and many more are to pass through it with the single notion of realizing the vision that drove Mzee to come up with this school in 1978. Through his pocket, the school has been well-equipped with equipment for the science subjects in the laboratories. The technical subjects have enough rooms which are well-stalked with the requirements for these special subjects. The music laboratory have modern musical instruments. The school is still undergoing a lot of infrastructural development and expansion by coming up with basketball and lawn tennis courts, teachers’ houses, dormitories and classrooms. Through a strong Chaplaincy Department, the school has tirelessly ministered to the students and staff the word of God which has been the anchor to this school foundation. This is in line with what Mzee had envisioned that in order to create a responsible and industrious individual, one has to fully live in line with the Biblical teachings. He also gave opportunity to a number of students to study in this school and his other learning institutions free. This is to empower the children from all walks of life. The impressive performance of our school is attributed to hard work, teamwork and discipline achieved through strong Christian foundation. The school reserves its first priority to God and Christian teachings. Furthermore, the school has relied on the wise counsel and unwavering support that it has received from the Board of Trustees and Board of Directors. Our school also boasts of adequate experienced, well-trained and highly motivated staff; both the teaching and non-teaching. The staff is very dedicated and usually goes an extra mile to give their best for the sake of the young Kenyans who have regularly shown their thirst for education. They ensure that our students’ needs both academic, co-curricular and their general welfare are well taken care of. The staff and the students’ relationship is cordial, friendly and humane. This creates an enabling environment for teaching and learning. We ensure that we clear the whole syllabus by first term of Form4 and this gives room for intense and comprehensive revision with the candidates. My office is proud to state that we have a capable, empowered and independent teaching staff who prioritizes on teamwork, firmness and impartiality while addressing academic needs of the students in line with the school vision and mission. Together, we have ensured that students’ discipline and other needs are attended to promptly and efficiently. Apart from academic work, the school has continued to excel in other co-curricular activities. The students have participated in such sports as swimming, football, tennis, chess, and other games. Some students have gone up to the national and international level competitions. The school has also posted excellent performance in the music festivals. Students’ talents have been nurtured through such initiatives. The students have also been exposed to the global stage through the World Scholars’ Club. In the past, the members of this club have gone for the international competitions overseas and excelled. This year the school Drama Club took part in the sub-county and county levels competitions. These activities make us live with the fact that: “All Work and no Play makes Jack a dull boy.” We thank our dearest parents for supporting their children in such activities and also the teachers for taking up the challenge of training these children to be multi-talented. 6 Remember God your Creator in the days of your youth (Ec. 12:1) MOI HIGH SCHOOL KABARAK CHIEF PRINCIPAL The school’s greatest secret behind its success is being God-fearing, God adoring and consistent in purpose. The students’ presence in class, group discussion, consultation with the teachers and amongst themselves, and punctuality at all times is another reason for such exemplary performance. Students also, regularly listen to professionals in particular areas of interest to guide and counsel them on their career and psycho-social matters. Finally, I would like to reaffirm that we still have a greater room for improvement ahead. We have sat down and analyzed some of our strategies of last year and come up with new ways of improving our results. Our target is to enable everyone attain grades that will make our students compete favourably with the other candidates in the country to get competitive courses at the university both nationally and globally. We have emphasized to this year’s (2023) candidates, the Jonathans, that they never ever fold their arms and sleep a wink in the hope that the school’s history of success is a surety that they will perform well. We have told them each group is unique and each person has to work their way to success. They need to burn the midnight oil to achieve their academic goal. We shall work harder by God’s grace and guidance so that our school maintains a sterling performance and keeps the students’ burning passion of achieving the best for the glory of God and in line with our school motto “On Earth We Rise”. We aim at all times to produce an all-round person who easily fits in the global village. We are grateful to God for enabling us excel in such a big way and also thank the 2022 candidates, the Immanuels for a job well done. May God bless our Board of Directors, students, staff, parents and indeed our school in entirety. Mrs. Elishebah Cheruiyot, B.Ed., MBA(HRM), OGW, CHIEF PRINCIPAL. Mrs. Margaret Samo Deputy Principal (Girls Affairs) 10 Remember God your Creator in the days of your youth (Ec. 12:1) MOI HIGH SCHOOL KABARAK THE DEPUTY PRINCIPAL ACADEMIC AFFAIRS As we gather here today to celebrate the achievements of our students, it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teachers, staff, and students. I am proud to report that our school has made significant progress in the academic arena over the past year, and I am excited to share with you some of the achievements we have made. Firstly, our students have continued to excel in their academic pursuits. Our performance in national exams has been impressive, with many of our students scoring highly and earning admission to top universities and colleges in the country and abroad. I would like to extend my congratulations to all the award recipients for their outstanding achievements. Our success is not only limited to academic performance but also extends to co-curricular activities. Our students have participated in a wide range of activities, from sports to music, drama, and debate, and have brought back numerous awards and trophies to our school. As we celebrate the achievements of our students today, let us also reflect on our shared vision and mission as a school. Let us renew our commitment to providing a world-class education that prepares our students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. In conclusion, I would like to express my gratitude to our students, parents, teachers, and staff for their unwavering commitment and support to our academic programs. Together, we can continue to make Moi High School - Kabarak a beacon of excellence in education. Mr. Philip Kibogo Deputy Principal - Academic Affairs 11 MOI HIGH SCHOOL KABARAK Remember God your Creator in the days of your youth (Ec. 12:1) THE CHAPLAINCY Rev. Dr. Paul M. Ombati Chaplain. WE OWE OUR SUCCESS TO FIRM CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES This is yet another opportunity for us, as Moi High School Kabarak family to look back and thank God for His faithfulness. The 2022 class (The Immanuels), have done us proud. They broke and set a new record, from 24 A’s in 2021 to 33A’s in 2022. We will forever be grateful to our God. It is our challenge to the class of 2023 (THE JONATHANS) to break the record of the 2022 class (THE IMMANUELS). The Chaplaincy Department of Moi High School - Kabarak and Moi Primary School is headed by the Chaplain. This department co-ordinates the process of integration of Christian faith and learning. The committee is charged with the responsibility of providing the necessary spiritual infrastructure for members of Kabarak Community to know their creator and discover his calling for their lives. As a school, we emphasize Christian culture that is unique for character transformation and formation in the lives of students, staff and their family members. Thus the Chaplaincy Department perceives as her primary role the duty of providing spiritual guidance and pastoral care to all the members of Kabarak Community. Our Motto “On Earth We Rise” defines our purpose of existence as an institution. We believe that the word of the Lord is the foundation of all that we do as an institution. The Chaplaincy department co-ordinates many spiritual activities, which are of great value for growth of both students and staff. The Africa Inland Church Kabarak community Chapel provides opportunities to students and staff members to utilize their spiritual gifts as they serve the Lord and humanity. 12 Remember God your Creator in the days of your youth (Ec. 12:1) MOI HIGH SCHOOL KABARAK THE CHAPLAINCY As an underlying premise, the Chaplaincy Department believes that no society of humans can ignore the spiritual and religious dimension of life without jeopardizing what it means to be human. Human beings are by nature religious and no society would deny the religious domain without some grave consequences. Our desire as a school is to participate fully in fulfilling the great commission and to engage our students and staff members in developing servant hood. Both our students and staff have been involved in many outreach missions to reach the world for Christ. This fulfils Christ’s mission to his disciples that they should preach to world. We have reached out to various communities annually in the East African region. Internally, we reach the rest of the students, staff and community through Weekend Challenges, Bible Studies and teaching Sunday School children. During our Sunday School Services, both teachers and students participate actively in order to fulfill the benefits of Christianity. The Chaplaincy Department undertakes teaching and training classes where the adherents are doctrinally prepared for baptism. The catechism classes take one year after which the adherents, upon satisfactory completion of their training, are baptized by immersion in water in accordance with Jesus Christ command in the Book of Mathew 28:19-20. To date, AIC - Kabarak Chapel has baptized over 7000 people. We thank the Lord, our Creator for having given His Excellency, The Late Daniel T. Arap Moi, the Second President of the Republic of Kenya, Patron and Founder of Moi High School - Kabarak, the vision and wisdom to establish the exemplary institution of learning. Truly, this is a Christian school of choice which is learner centred and guided by values like commitment, fairness and integrity. He rightly purposed in his heart to begin an educational centre where spiritual matters are taken with utmost seriousness: his primary goal was, to have a school where children, boys and girls, can receive educational instruction founded on Christian values and Biblical morality. It is to this end that the Chaplaincy Department exists to serve as the primary custodian in the implementation of this noble vision. Besides the weekly Sunday Worship Services in the Chapel at 7.40 a.m., the Chaplaincy oversees and provides many opportunities for service and fellowships for members of the two institutions; the high school and the primary school. For example, there is the Sunday School hour that runs from 8.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. on Sundays. Our students are involved in teaching Sunday School children. Other opportunities for Christian Spiritual development and growth include Bible Studies which is held on Tuesdays for non-teaching staff, Thursdays for teachers and Sunday afternoon for students. There are also Christian Union Fellowships for the high school on Sunday afternoon. The Christian Union has membership of over one thousand. These are students who, out of their own conviction, come together for purposes of fellowship and administering the word of God to other members of the school community. They are guided by the School Chaplain through the Christian Union Patron. It is my prayer that God, by His grace, will grant the Chaplaincy Department continued wisdom and vision to provide the needed spiritual atmosphere for the members of Moi High School - Kabarak, Moi Primary School and other members of Kabarak Community to know their Creator and discover his calling in their lives. We give God the glory for the exemplary performance that the school has continued to post. Every year, we have been having a Biblical verse that guides the candidates and strengthens them spiritually. We shall forever be grateful to the founding father of Kabarak Institutions, His Excellency the Late Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, for his consideration to our worthy course of incorporating education in Christian values. Rev. Dr. Paul M. Ombati Chaplain. 13 MOI HIGH SCHOOL KABARAK Remember God your Creator in the days of your youth (Ec. 12:1) CURRICULUM IMPLEMENTATION AND EVALUATION We once again thank God for the exceptional results attained by the Immanuels’ class of 2022 in their K.C.S.E. The Immanuels (class of 2022) made us proud for the exemplary results. They were prayerful, maintained very high standards of discipline, worked hard and remained focused to attain those excellent results. From the Department of Discipline and Routine, it is worth to note that, the clear and elaborate school routine has continued to create more time and space for learning and therefore making the whole process more efficient. Our school routine gives students a clear direction on when to accomplish a given task at hand. It provides a consistent structure to depend on and promotes a sense of independence and empowerment to students who need this for their academic success and to develop social responsibility. In our school, discipline is key for the success of every student. The department encourages students to maintain high standards of discipline and to follow the school routine all the time. The need to observe school rules and regulations becomes imperative so that order, discipline and conducive learning environment are created. The quality of students discipline is an important factor in determining the intellectual outcome of the learners. Its worth to note that students who are disciplined keep their mind focused and will always remain on top of things be it in their studies or personal lives. To the continuing students, education without discipline is incomplete. With the help of discipline, students will be able to establish positive attitudes towards their studies and life in general. It is for this reason, Moi High School – Kabarak has continued to produce graduates who are role models and responsible members of the society. The adoption of the new curriculum in Kenya has witnessed its launch at the lower education levels and currently at Grade 7 and higher educational institutions in a few years to come will embrace it too.Since the idea of adopting competency-based curriculum was conceptualized to the time it was launched in Kenya, Moi High School Kabarak has prepared its teachers to implement it when it finally transit to senior school in 2026. An induction by Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development was conducted to all teachers in 2022. Being the implementers of the curriculum, teachers have been prepared adequately and equipped in terms of knowledge, attitude and skills for easy receptability. Competency based curriculum aims at equipping learners with the 21st century competencies; communication, collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, imagination, digital literacy, self-efficacy and learning to learn. For smooth implementation of competency-based curriculum, school has equipped its teachers with technological skills. Digital literacy is one of the crucial competency areas that are emphasized in the competency-based curriculum. Since CBC is learner centered, sufficient teaching, learning resources and large class sizes have been set aside to execute CBC with precision. The school has prepared itself to meet the demands of the new curriculum through establishment of modern classrooms, modern dormitories, modern science laboratories, modern library, and technological gadgets such as laptops, computers and projectors among others. Moi high school Kabarak will be pursuing studies in its senior school majoring on Science Technical Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). In addition, Arts & Sports Science and Social Sciences shall also be offered. It plays a pivotal role in the academic arena. English, for example, is exceptionally crucial in the good performance of all other disciplines except for Kiswahili. It is gratifying to note that the performance of these two subjects in the K.C.S.E has been steady except for the last year’s results in the English subject which registered a negative deviation. In 2022 K.C.S.E, the English Subject registered a mean of 9.36 (B). Kiswahili had a mean grade of10.07 (B+), an improvement from 9.54 (B+) in 2021. I commend all the teachers for their efforts in 2022. Looking back at last year, I can see the teachers who worked hard and in unison to try to achieve the school set target of 10.50 (A-) in both English and Kiswahili. They were not let down by the results. I wish to particularly salute the Kiswahili Subject teachers such a remarkable improvement. Now a word to the whole student body and in particular the 2023 Candidates, English and Kiswahili, being among the compulsory subjects, must be taken more seriously than we usually do. Very good grades in these subjects will make a difference between getting and not getting the career of your choice. English Language, for example, is a core subject; it is also a medium of instruction for all the other subjects except for Kiswahili. A good command of both Kiswahili and English means that one has better chances of achieving good grades in the other subjects. For this reason, it behooves every student to have total seriousness, that is, give Kiswahili and English equal attention like any other subject. It should never be taken casually at any one time in school. In conclusion, I would like to repeat what I have said in the past that both English and Kiswahili have the same formula leading to success, one must read widely, write a lot and make deliberate attempt to speak well the two languages. The more often one speaks, reads and writes, the better one`s communication of ideas in the examinations will be. Guard against mixing the two languages in a single sentence or discussing English and even the other subjects in Kiswahili. The end result is that you will neither be here or there. Finally, let us mind our handwriting-it is crucial in achieving good grades in the examinations. Everyone must strive to write legibly and neatly at all times. Remember practice makes perfect. From improving physical fitness to promoting social skills, there are several reasons why institutions should prioritize games and sports. One of the most obvious reasons why games and sports are essential is that it promotes physical fitness. Engaging in physical activities like running, jumping, and playing sports helps to develop strong bones, muscles, and improves overall health. Games and sports are a great way to relieve stress and anxiety. In an institution like ours Moi High School - Kabarak, students face various academic and personal challenges, which can cause stress and anxiety. Engaging in sports or games provides an outlet for students to release their stress and focus on something positive. It helps to develop mental toughness and resilience, which are essential life skills. Sports and games also promote social skills and teamwork. In team sports like basketball, soccer, or volleyball, players must work together and communicate effectively to achieve their goals. For instance recently at our Sub – County games held in Kabarak, our Boys Basketball team Made us proud by winning All their Matches to be Crowned the Sub County Champions in Basketball. They beat Mamangina Boys 52 – 12, Rongai Boys 42 – 11 and “ White washed” Kirobon Boys in the finals 40 – 27. A big Thank you to Mr. Bingerwa and Madam Andesia in steering the team to such a wonderful performance. I wish to also pay special tribute to our swimming team for having qualified to the next level. Our Athletes, Mercy Chepkoech, Debra Tonui, Morgan Kiprono Calvin Odete and Destayan Masika congratulations too for having made it through in a highly contested athletics meet. Additionally, playing sports helps students to develop social skills like cooperation, communication, and empathy. Another important benefit of games and sports is that it teaches students about the importance of discipline and hard work. To excel in sports, students must practice regularly, follow a healthy diet, and maintain a disciplined routine. This helps to instill a sense of discipline and hard work, which are essential life skills that can be applied in other areas of their lives. Games and sports also provide a sense of community and belonging. When students participate in sports teams or clubs, they feel a sense of belonging and connection to their institution. This helps to create a positive environment where students feel valued and supported. It also helps to create a sense of camaraderie among students, which promotes a healthy and positive school culture. Finally, games and sports provide opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills. Apart from the coaches who are on the ground with the teams, I wish to recognize in a special way All my Deputies;- Madam Susan Ekai, Mr. Anton Charles, Betty Kangogo, Richard Mwai, Zephaniah Kibowen, Philemon Bett and Oscar Awuor H.O.S Physical Education. This was at a time when his prophetic journey had become very tough and had gotten worn out and at a point of giving up. The angel told him to “arise and eat” for the journey is still long. For sure he arose, ate and by the strength of the food he ate and the water he drunk, he had strength to go for forty days and forty nights. In the same way here in Moi high school - Kabarak, once one gets into the gate of the school, whether a student or a staff, they immediately begin a journey. Moi high school - Kabarak is known for excellence in whatever she puts her hands on and more so academics. The journey am talking about here is the journey to excellence. In the pursuit for excellence is long hours of consistent work for both the students and the staff leaving them tired and physically drained. At this point as was for prophet Elijah, the hospitality comes in handy once and again patting the shoulders of the members to “arise and eat” for the journey continues. This strengthens the members to continue working towards the school goal. In addition to taking care of meals for our students and staff, we also organize meals for our guests who visit our school from time to time. This may include such as guests on school academic days and thanks and prize giving days. The hospitality department takes her pride in her significant and consistent contribution towards the great and wholesome achievement of this giant learning institution. It is worth noting that this department is headed by a head of department with an assistant head of department working under her. The department works together with the school catering department which is headed by the school caterer with assistant caterer, head cook and cooks working under him respectively. The deputy principal in charge of girl’s affairs is the overall in charge of the departments. God was with you and rewarded your hard work and commitment. Your success was also attributed to the contribution made by the entire staff in the system and all the stakeholders of the School. Moi High School-Kabarak finance department over time has undergone several changes focused on achieving efficiency in our operations. The changes includes the migration of systems from manual to computerized system which has enabled the department to provide accurate, reliable and timely financial records. The department operates under local Area Network (LAN), this enable the authorized users to log in and access the students school fees statements, fees balances and other financial records in their offices. Currently our systems is undergoing integration and once this process is completed, our parents/guardians will not need to submit the deposit slips upon the payment of school fees. The school fees will be uploaded online and notification given to the parents/guardians. Once this is complete the school will notify the parents/guardians on the process of logging to the student’s portal to access and check the school fees balances, the fees structure and the performance report of his/her child. We in the Finance department are charged with the role of budgeting, planning, procurement and general management of the school funds and other assets. This being a crucial task, it calls for faithfulness, honesty and prudence, which can only be achieved by strong personal integrity backed by the fear of God. Jackson Brown Jr. says that talent without discipline is like an octopus on a roller-skates; there is plenty of movement but you never know if it is going to be forward, backwards or sideways. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment and we are not afraid to speak the common sense truth: you cannot have high standards without discipline and this is a clear indication that students of Moi High School-Kabarak are disciplined and this is attributed to the presence of a prefects’ body which is God fearing and prayerful. The prefects are usually selected through a rigorous exercise due to their competence, diligence and commitment to upholding discipline. It is a representative of the students’ body and it embodies the best qualities the school has to offer. It has been bestowed with the responsibility of ensuring discipline. It is a bridge between the students and the administration. it chanels the students’ welfare to the school administration unfavourably and unconditionally. It is a team that is selected based on academic performance. The body is able to discharge its duties to the best of its abilities due to the unwavering support from the school administration. The administration also trains the prefects for professionalism in handling the students’ issues. We are forever grateful for the school for giving opportunity to serve in this great school. We strive to surpass the Class of 2022 performance in their final examinations. We urge the students to study harder and beat the feat achieved by this lot. We thank the school administration for keenly addressing our issues and ensuring that our stay in this school is comfortable and meaningful. ~Akala Mercy Myah, 4 West Form 1 Students during French lesson with Mrs. Koech 37 MOI HIGH SCHOOL KABARAK Remember God your Creator in the days of your youth (Ec. 12:1) FRIENDSHIP AND CHARACTER If you want to see where a person’s life is heading, look at their closest associations. This is because your close friends will influence your attitudes, beliefs, your relationship with your family and even how successful you become. The size of your thinking, your goals, your attitudes, and your very personality is formed by your environment. Prolonged association with negative people makes us think negatively; close contact with petty individuals develops petty habits in us. Companionship with people with big ideas raises the level of our thinking: close contact with ambitious people
