During the winter, they used snowshoes and dogs to pull their sleds. Hunting – What animals did they hunt? The Métis people relied heavily on the buffalo to keep them fed. The Métis men would go on long hunting missions to find packs of buffalo. The buffalo provided a large amount of meat, animal hide, and bones for the formation of tools. Nothing was wasted!
