CHANG’S TAEKWONDO LEADERSHIP PROGRAM LEVEL 2 2023 edition Leadership Summary Level 2 Topic Leadership Posture protocols Lesson Outline When on the mat, We need to show proper posture when standing and sitting. We will review when to be standing and when its ok to sit fully or on one knee. Number Name Description 1 Standing Whenever the students are standing, we have to stand in front of the class or on the sides. When we stand and are not doing the drill or the warmup, we have to stand with our hands behind our back. 2 one knee down Whenever the students are sitting, We want to go on one knee so its easier to stand quickly if needed. When in lines, we want to kneel behind the middle of the line so we can help the students quicker. another reason to go on one knee is to get to the students eye level when having a 1 on 1 with them. 3 Sitting whenever you are partnered up with a student or need to be beside a student and the class is sitting. Sit on your knees and not in criss cross unless the head instructor told the class to sit in criss cross. Leadership Summary Level 2 Topic Appropriate language Lesson Outline Your goal is to use appropriate language while teaching, talking to students, parents, peers, and higher ranks.Do your best to speak like a teacher, a role model and a professional speaker. Avoid slang words, bad words and negative talk. Keep positive conversation. for example, adjust a "yeah" to a "yes", a "nah" to a "no". If someone asks a question you don't know the answer to say, "that its an excellent question, Ill find out for you" instead of "I don't know". We need to keep that approbate language not only at the Dojang, If you see a student, parent, peer, or higher rank outside the Dojang, we still have to have appropriate language. Number Who How 1 Students Make sure we remember what age group of students we are talking to. If it's a younger class, use more simple words that they will understand. Our goal is to make sure the students understand what we are saying and it's clear. 2 Parents When you address a parent, use "yes sir" and "yes ma'am" or use their title and last name (ex: Mrs Johnson). When you show respect to parents, you are not only being respectful, you are being a positive role model to their children. 3 Peers Showing reciprocal respect to each other is a powerful way to teach the students proper respect protocols. 4 Higher ranks Address Higher ranks by their appropriate title( like "Master" or "Instructor") and not just their first name. This is important in person, on the phone, or by text. Make sure we bow when we are saying hello and goodbye. Notes: Pro tip: When we are at testing or events and you see Grand Master Chang and Master Chang, You must go up to them, bow and say hello with appropriate Language.
