My wife, my daughter, and I traveled there together. When we arrived, we checked into our hotel. Then, we went to the lake. We took a boat tour on the lake. We saw beautiful mountains around the lake. We stopped at some small towns. In the towns, we walked around the markets. We looked at the handmade crafts, like textiles and pottery. One day, we visited the town of Santiago Atitlán. We went to the top of a hill to see a church. We learned about the local culture and traditions. My daughter tried on some traditional Mayan clothes. She liked the colorful textiles. In the afternoons, we relaxed by the lake. We watched the boats go by and enjoyed the nice weather. One day, my wife and I rented a small boat. We explored more areas of the lake and had a picnic on the beach. On our last day, we went to the main market in Panajachel. We looked at all the stalls and bought some souvenirs. We got some hand-woven blankets, wooden figurines, and colorful hammocks. We had a wonderful time on our vacation in Panajachel. We saw beautiful nature, learned about the local culture, and had fun as a family. We made many great memories during our trip. Assignment Week 2 1. Validity Definition: Validity refers to the extent to which an assessment measures what it is intended to measure. Application in Lesson Plan: The lesson plan aims to assess students’ ability to use the simple past tense accurately in both speaking and writing. The activities, such as writing narratives about their vacations, are valid because they directly assess the targeted performance objective. 2. Reliability Definition: Reliability refers to the consistency of an assessment’s results over time or across different populations. Application in Lesson Plan: The use of structured worksheets and checklists for evaluating student responses contributes to reliability. If different students complete the same tasks, the results should be consistent, indicating that the assessment tools are reliable. 3. Formative Assessment Definition: Formative assessment is an ongoing process that provides feedback to improve student learning during instruction. Application in Lesson Plan: The lesson includes formative assessments like class discussions, the completion of worksheets, and pair-sharing activities. These assessments help the instructor gauge student understanding and adjust teaching strategies as needed. 4. Summative Assessment Definition: Summative assessment evaluates student learning at the end of an instructional period to determine if objectives have been met. Application in Lesson Plan: The final narratives written by students serve as a summative assessment. They demonstrate whether students can effectively use the simple past tense in a complete narrative, assessing their overall mastery of the topic. 5. Objective Assessment Definition: Objective assessment involves questions or tasks with clear right or wrong answers, minimizing subjectivity in grading. Application in Lesson Plan: The worksheet exercises, which may include fill-in-the- blanks and transforming verbs, are objective assessments. They have specific correct answers, making it easy to evaluate student performance. 6. Subjective Assessment Definition: Subjective assessment relies on the evaluator's judgment to score or interpret student performance, often found in open-ended tasks. Application in Lesson Plan: The narrative writing and sharing activities are examples of subjective assessments. Grading these narratives involves the teacher's judgment regarding the use of the simple past tense, creativity, and coherence, which can vary from one evaluator to another.
