# Discussion on Classes of Service of Airlines ## Classes of Service of Airlines Generally, airlines offer three main classes of service: - Economy class - Business class - First class Some airlines may differentiate within a class, and in addition to the standard service may offer a superior service within the same cabin. However, not all airlines offer three classes - some have two and others may only have one, and the classes offered may vary on different routes with varying aircraft types. ## The Different Types of Flight Classes - **First Class:** Most expensive, but most comfortable accommodations. - **Business Class:** Less expensive than first, but high-quality accommodations intended for business travelers. - **Premium Economy:** More distance between rows, but the seats are the same width as regular economy. - **Economy Class:** Basic flight accommodations for leisure travelers. ## Economy Class - This is the main class of service offered and the service provided at the airport and on board may vary from airline to airline. - Economy Class cabins are broken down into two categories: *Regular Economy* and *Premium Economy*. - Economy services range from airline to airline, but essentially, you're flying Economy (also known as flying coach) to get from point A to point B. - Premium Economy, is slightly better Economy Class seating, but must less extravagant than Business Class or First Class. The name ranges with each airline, but the biggest difference between regular and premium is the spacing of the seating and the quantity of menu items available to you. ## Business Class - Business class (also known as executive class) flight tickets are also expensive, but much more affordable than first class. - For most airlines this class is a superior economy class. - Offering speedier airport check-in. - Airport lounge facilities. - More comfortable on-board seating. - Superior meal service. - And in-flight entertainment. ## First Class - First Class service is typically the priciest of the classes. Passengers seating in the first-class section have more comfortable seating and are often given extravagant services. - This is the premier class offered by airlines. - They usually provide individual check-in facilities. - Airport lounge facilities. - Superior seating. - Superior meal service. - And individual in-flight entertainment. ## Airline Inflight Service ### What are the services that you will find on board? There are 5 main services when you are on the plane: 1. Meal Service 2. Drink and Beverage 3. Reading materials 4. Inflight entertainment 5. Duty free sales ### 1. Meal Service - **Breakfast:** - Continental breakfast : croissant/jam/juice/tea or coffee - English breakfast=American Breakfast=Cooked Breakfast : larger meal with egg, grilled bacon and sausage - **Lunch/Dinner/supper:** Appetizer, main course, cheese, fruit and dessert, tea or coffee ### 2. Drink or Beverage Service **Non Alcoholic Drinks** - Juice (Orange juice/ Apple Juice/ Tomato juice etc.) - Soft drinks /Carbonate drink/ Juice - Tea/Coffee **Alcoholic Drinks** - Liquor - Wine - Beer - Cocktails **Note:** These may be served with cocktails snacks such as peanuts, cashew nuts, crackers etc. - **Note!!** - Consumption of personal alcoholic beverage is not permitted on board. - Cabin crew will not serve alcoholic beverage to passenger under the age of 18. - Passengers who appear intoxicated will be denied to serve alcoholic drinks. ### 3. Reading Materials - Magazines - Newspaper - Inflight magazines ### 4. Inflight entertainment - Personal TV./ Screen - movies - music - games ### 5. Duty free goods - Duty free goods are tax free products that are sold at the airport or on a flight (*normally international flight*). - Passenger may pay by cash or credit card. - Cash: They usually accept a big currency banknote such as USD/AUD/JPY etc. - **Note!!** All passenger should check the duty free allowance regulation of each country before purchasing the duty free items. - **Ex:** - Thailand: 1 liter of liqour/200 cigarettes - India: 2 liters of whisky and wine/ 200 cigarettes ## Inflight Safety ***Safety Rules Before take off and landing !!*** - After the cabin doors are closed 1. Turn off all electronics devices such as mobile phones, tablets, ipad, mp3 players etc. 2. Fasten seat belt 3. Keep the tray table to its lock position 4. Adjust seatback to upright position 5. Open the window shade ***Safety Rule Before take off and landing*** 6. Stow the footrest and personal TV 7. Keep your belonging in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you - **Note!!** There will be a safety demonstration before every take off. **(seat belt/ life vest /oxygen mask/ emergency exits)** - **Note!!** There is a safety pamphlet in the seat of every passenger seat. ## Exit Seats ***Special rules for Exit seats!!!*** - There are some groups of passengers who cannot sit at the exit seats 1. Monks 2. Pregnant woman 3. Old passengers 4. Disabled Passengers 5. Children 6. Obese passenger (fat) 7. Passenger with pets 8. Sick passengers 9. Passengers who are not willing to help in case of emergency 10. Young passenger who traveling alone (UM/YP) ## When the seatbelt sign is turned on... - The seatbelt sign will be illuminated when the airplane: - is going to take off - Is going to land (descending) - is passing through the turbulence area - What you have to do is to: 1. Remain seated and fasten your seatbelt 2. Do not walk around, refrain from using the lavatory - **Note!!** All flights is a non-smoking flight. Passengers who travel by plane cannot smoke on board.
