PHOTO NAME PURPOSE Piston Ring Compressor Allows easy installation of piston rings. (Compression RIng, Oil Control Ring, Piston Ring) Ratchet/Socket Wrench Allows for quick tightening or loosening of nuts/bolts with a ratchet mechanism. Breaker Bar Provides extra leverage for loosening tight bolts/nuts. This can be used in place of a Ratchet to avoid damaging the ratchet echanism. Extension Bar Extends the reach of a socket wrench for accessing difficult areas. Sockets Interchangeable tools used with a wrench bar for tightening or loosening bolts. Deep Sockets Longer sockets designed for bolts with extended threads. Hex Key/Allen Wrench L-shaped tool used for driving hexagonal (Allen) screws. Should be 70% deep reach. Offset Screwdriver Angled screwdriver for tight or awkward spaces. Screwdriver (Flat & Cross) Flathead screwdrivers for slotted screws; Phillips and Prince & Reed for cross-headed screws. Wire Twister/Twister Plier Twists safety wires for securing fasteners. Combination Has an open and a box end Wrench/Spanners wrench for versatility Open-ended Wrench U-shaped tool for gripping bolts and fasteners Box-End Wrench Encloses the nut/bolt for a firm grip on hexagonal fasteners. Can be substituted for breaker bars. Speed Handle Allows fast turning of sockets for quick bolt adjustments. Adjustable Wrench Adjustable jaw for various sizes of nuts and bolts. Unstable and is not used in the aviation industry. Pin Punch Used to indent or create a hole through a hard surface. Ball Peen Hammer Used for metalworking, shaping and striking Rubber Hammer Delivers softer blows to avoid damaging surfaces. Dead Blow Hammer Delivers precise blows with minimal recoil. Micrometer Measures small dimensions with high precision. Vernier Caliper Measures internal, external and depth dimensions with fine accuracy. Torque Wrench Tightens fasteners to a specific torque to prevent over or under-tightening.
