HOFFMAN ESTATES FIRE DEPARTMENT STANDARD OPERATING GUIDELINES SOG Category & Identification Number: EFFECTIVE DATE: ADMINISTRATIVE – 040 January 1, 2022 NIMS COMPLIANT SOG Title: Dive Team pin for Class A uniform Revision: 1 APPROVED BY: NUMBER OF PAGES: Re-evaluation Date: Alan Wax January 1, 2024 Fire Chief 2 PURPOSE This program is designed to recognize the Hoffman Estates Fire Department Dive Team active and past public safety team members. Department Dive members go through rigorous training to meet the minimum public safety diver requirements. To encourage members to stay active and continue their training, we feel they should be recognized by other members of the department as well as the public. DEFINITIONS ACTIVE PUBLIC SAFETY DIVER A Hoffman Estates Fire Department Diver who has met the public safety diver minimum qualifications and is a member in good standings as a MABAS Public Safety Diver. PAST PUBLIC SAFETY DIVER A Hoffman Estates Fire Department Diver who has met the public safety diver minimum qualifications and was a member in good standings as a MABAS Public Safety Diver for at least 10 years or who is no longer on the team because of promotion, medical reasons, and/or retirement. PSD UNIFORM PIN Chrome and Gold PSD pins 1.50” wide by 1.16” tall. 1 POLICY It shall be the policy to award Hoffman Estates Fire Department Dive Team active and past public safety team members with 1 PSD uniform pin be worn on the Class A uniform coat.  Color of pin is based on rank to match button color. o Firefighters, Lieutenants and Captains wear silver. o Chief Officers wear gold. PSD uniform pins shall be placed ⅛” above the nameplate that is centered over the right pocket. If ribbons are present, then placed ⅛” above the ribbons centered.
