Pros of part timer 1. Part timers may be more productive than full timers because they have shorter working hours or may work under an employer that recognises the value of part-timers. 2. Provides great flexibility - If a worker is sick, a part timer can cover on short notice. 3. Employing 2 part-timers rather than one full timer may have a wider range of skills and experience in the workplace. 4. Part-timers would not need time off for medical appointments. When full timers take the time off, output will be lost. Cons of part timer 1. Increase in induction and training cost 2. Communication problems arise 3. Part timers may not be as committed compare to full timers 4. Quality of work offered may not be as good. Reasons to terminate employment 1. Redundancy - Workers are no longer needed for work because jobs do not exist anymore. Business may close down because it is not profitable or the business relocates to another country. - Workers' jobs could be terminated, and their job is redundant. 2. Dismissal - Workers are dismissed from their jobs because of their incompetence, not performing tasks to required standards. And also might be because the employee is breaking work rules, like late arrival and ignoring safety and health procedures. 3. Resignation - Worker leave job voluntarily - Maybe because of better pay, shorter working hours, the new job is closer to their home. 4. Retirement - Employees must leave their job when they reach retirement age. - Workers reach an age beyond, so no need to work.
