Under the current regulations, placarding is required for any quantity of: Division 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 Explosives Division 2.3 Poison Gases eS Division 4.3 Flammable Solids, Dangerous When Wet Division 5.2 Organic Peroxide Type B, liquid or solid, temperature controlled 5. Division 6.1 Poison - Inhalation Hazards 6. Radioactive Materials displaying the Radioactive Yellow III label What classes of HM require placarding of the vehicle when in non-bulk packaging and has an aggregate gross weight of 1,001 pounds or more is on board? Placarding is required if the aggregate gross weight of any of the following HM is 1,001 pounds (454 kg) or more on a truck: 1. Division 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 Explosives* 2. Division 2.1 Flammable Gas 3. Division 2.2 Nonflammable Gas 4. Class 3 Flammable Liquid 5. Division 4.1 Flammable Solid 6. Division 4.2 Spontaneously Combustible 7. Division 5.1 Oxidizers 8. Division 5.2 Organic Peroxides (other than organic perox- ide, Type B, liquid or solid, temperature controlled) 9. Division 6.1 Poisons (other than inhalation hazards) 10.Class 8 Corrosives 11.Class 9 Miscellaneous HM** * Division 1.4 Explosives, Compatibility Group $ (1.45), which are not required to be labeled, do not require placarding. ** Domestic shipments are exempted from placarding. “Keep Away From Food” and “Drive Safely” are not authorized placards and should no longer be displayed. 101
