Disable devices that are not presently Schedule the log uploads to occur at times when commissioned or functional. the system usage is low, for example during night time or off hours. Connect high-end devices with power quality monitoring features, such as the ION9000, Use the Daisy Chain Calculator tool to directly through Ethernet, not serial. determine the maximum number of devices in a serial loop for your system. Note: The ION9000T with high speed transient capture, will NOT upload high speed transient waveform data to the software if it is connected through a serial connection. This wizard allows the user to quickly and easily set up and configure their first system made up of sites, groups, and devices. See ION Setup Help > Starting your first installation (Network Builder wizard) to learn about using the wizard. The next time you start ION Setup, the sites and devices you have added will be available in Network Mode where you can add, remove, or configure sites and devices to continue building your network. Confidential Property of Schneider Electric | Page 22 Internal Time Synchronization Configuration Choose a single time synchronization source per device Full device time synchronization requires two steps: NTP PME Configure a time source to send time synchronizations Server Server Configure the devices to receive time synchronizations Example Both a Power Monitoring Expert server and NTP server are sending time synchronizations across the same local network. Because they are both valid time synchronization sources for a PowerLogic ION9000, the ION9000 must be configured to receive the time synchs from just one of the sources (for example, the Power Monitoring Expert server). Confidential Property of Schneider Electric | Page 23 Internal Time Synchronization Sources Systems where time synchronization is Systems that Require High Accuracy (± 1 ms) Not Critical (± 1 s): time synchronization for power quality monitoring, sequence of events recording Power Monitoring Expert server (SER), revenue billing or system stability DNP monitoring, use: NTP PTP DLMS GPS IRIG-B Use a protocol that is common for all devices to avoid multiple time synchronization signals in the network. Confidential Property of Schneider Electric | Page 24 Internal Enable time synchronization on an ION device 1. Connect to the device using ION Setup. On the Timezone tab for Clock, change entry for the CL1 Time Sync Source. You can also do this on the meter front panel. In Management Console: For an Ethernet device, set the Time Synch Ethernet Enabled to Yes in the Ethernet Device Configuration. For a serial device, set the Time Synch ION Enabled to Yes in the Ethernet Gateway.
