BOLAÑOS Learning Area Science Time & Dates March 21, 2024 Quarter Quarter 3 I. OBJECTIVES A.Content Standards The learners demonstrate understanding of how evolution through natural selection can result in biodiversity. B.Performance The learners shall be able to write an essay on the Standards importance of adaptation as a mechanism for the survival of a species. C.Learning The learners shall be able to explain the occurrence of Competencies evolution. (S10LT-IIIf-40). /Objectives CODE: S10LT-IIIf-40 Learners will be able to: 1. Di昀昀erentiate the Lamarckism from Darwinism. 2. Construct graphic organizer about the theories of evolution. 3. Appreciate the signi昀椀cance of evolution to survival of species. II. CONTENT THEORIES OF EVOLUTION III.LEARNING RESOURCES A.References Science Learner’s Material Grade 10 page 316-321 Additional Materials from LR Portal 1. Teacher’s Guide pages 2. PROCEDURES A.Reviewing previous INTRODUCTION OF THE TOPIC AND OBJECTIVES lesson or presenting the new lesson Downloaded by Abegail Calvo ([email protected]) lOMoARcPSD|42662674 Show a videoclip of glow up videos from tiktok. QUESTIONS:  What is the video all about?  Do you have the same experience from the said video? B.Establishing a purpose  Can you relate the video to yourself? In what way? for the lesson In reality, there is really a theory the same with the concept of what happened to the video that we people have undergone according to a certain scientist. That would be the center of our discussion today and that is all about, EVOLUTION. C.Presenting Aside from the video that I have showed you a while ago, examples/instances of what other animals/ organism have you observed that has the new lesson undergone evolution? I will present a picture that is related to the theory of evolution. I’ll make use of the process of metamorphosis. Using the term metamorphosis as a synonym for evolution and use it in a sentence as a part of 昀椀gures of speech. Does the butter昀氀y starts existing as a beautiful butter昀氀y?  The process of transformation from an immature form to an adult form in two or more distinct stages.  A change of the form of nature of a thing or person into a completely di昀昀erent one. EXAMPLE: Downloaded by Abegail Calvo ([email protected]) lOMoARcPSD|42662674  His metamorphosis from a nobody at school before to the most successful individual from their batch. D. Discussing new If both the individual from the video and the butter昀氀y concepts and during the metamorphosis have undergone evolution, what practicing new skills do you think is reason behind this evolution? #1 Here, the theories presented by the two famous scientists would answer that question. THEORIES OF EVOLUTION Discussion of the theories of evolution by Jean Baptiste de Lamark and theory of Natural Selection by Charles Darwin. LAMARCKISM OR DARWINISM? 1. This activity will check your understanding on the two theories of evolution. 2. Each of you will create a graphic organizer on your own in your notebook about the theories of evolution. 3. Word/s or statements will be posted on the board and classify each statement whether it is under the theory of Lamarck or Darwin. 4. You will be given three minutes to 昀椀nish the activity and we will answer it on the board. E. Discussing new COLLABORATION/ SHARING OF EXPERIENCES- concepts and Students shall be able to appreciate the importance of practicing new skills evolution by presenting or citing situations that are #2 relatable to their life experiences. I WILL SURVIVE 1. The class would be grouped to six groups. 2. Each group will pick a “word” that they will relate to the topic which is evolution. 3. From the word given to them, they will cite di昀昀erent situations that are relatable to their life experiences and the process of evolution by writing/ drawing the di昀昀erence of it in the past and today and then explain how they survive and adapt through changes. Downloaded by Abegail Calvo ([email protected]) lOMoARcPSD|42662674 4. Collaborate with your group mates to 昀椀nish the task in 昀椀ve minutes and present your work as a group in class.  Personal Evolution  Evolution of Homes  Evolution of School F. Finding practical LET US TRANSFORM! applications of concepts and skills in 1. The theory of evolution is not just all about the daily living evolution of species or organisms. The process of evolution happens everyday. 2. In this activity, students must be able to expound the topic – EVOLUTION based on their observations and life experiences. 3. Each group will pick a logo that corresponds to their task (EDUCATION, TRANSPORTATION, INFRASTRACTURE) 4. The task is to relate the LOGO to the process of EVOLUTION. 5. Each group will be given 3 minutes to 昀椀nish the task and explain their work in class afterwards. H. Evaluating learning ASSESSMENT: INSTRUCTION: Write True if the statement is correct and false if otherwise. 1. Evolution is not always a slow progress. 2. Adaptations are any characteristics that allow an organism to reproduce more successfully. 3. A single species may change through time to become another species. 4. There are a great variety of breeds of dogs. This is considered to be an example of natural selection. 5. Evolution is de昀椀ned as the change in characteristics that are most common in the population. 6-10. Di昀昀erentiate Lamarck’s theory from Darwin’s theory of evolution. J. Additional activities A. Do Activity 6 on page 319 entitled “SURVIVOR” to for application or determine the e昀昀ect of environmental changes on remediation adaptation and survival of species.  Assignment/ B. Have an advance reading about ECOSYSTEM: Agreement BIODIVERSITY (Module 4) (_________ minutes). Fill in below any of the four purposes. Reinforcing/ strengthening the day’s lessons.
