POLICY on the MODE OF INSTRUCTIONAL DELIVERY COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES ❖ The College shall use the Hybrid mode of Enriched Virtual Mode of Instruction for AY 2023-2024: There are specific dates for EVM (online) and the rest of the term are onsite classes Memo on the Schedule of EVM (online) COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES ❖ EVM for each course can be scheduled either of following mode: Synchronous via Zoom or Google Meet Asynchronous via the UST Cloud Campus thru CANVAS Note: Refer to the Weekly Class Expectation (WCE) posted in your respective course site. COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES B. POLICY on GOOD GROOMING (Based on PPS 1027 of the UST Student Handbook ) COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES CICS POLICY on GOOD GROOMING ( as of July 1, 2019) Pursuant to the implementation of the Code of Conduct (PPS 1027) on GOOD GROOMING, the following College policies will apply effective immediately. It states that : “Good grooming includes the wearing of the prescribed college uniform, the authorized shoes, the ID, the male haircut and other considerations that are similar to these.” COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES SECTION-A The uniform must follow the Faculty’s / College’s / Institution’s/School’s design or pattern. The uniform by each unit of the University is in accordance with the standard of modesty commonly upheld in a Catholic institution. It must be worn with neatness or cleanliness. Deviation from the original design is not allowed. COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES Type-A uniform : Note: with consent of the students COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES Section-A (DO’s) To be worn by the student from the start of classes of the Academic Year until the celebration rd of Ash Wednesday and will resume at the start of the 3 term; To be worn with plain white (without print) sando or undershirt; To be worn strictly in any academic function or transaction as directed by the CICS office; Pants must be long enough to reach at least the ankles but not too long that they reach the floor when standing; and Pants for male and female should be black slacks (loose) and not tight-fitting COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES Section-A (DON’T’s) Sleeves of the CICS polo (for men) or blouse (for women) that is too tight fitting around the arms; and Maong pants, jogging pants, jersey/skinny jeans or leggings ARE NOT allowed; COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES Type-B uniform : COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES DO’s To be worn by the student from the first Thursday after the celebration of Ash Wednesday until the last school day of 2nd Term of the academic year; The length of the walking shorts should be no higher than one (1) inch below the center of the knee and no lower than one inch below the knee; and Color of the walking short is light khaki. Type of material of the walking shorts should be the same as that of the prescribe Type-B uniform of the College. COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES DON’T’s The walking shorts is folded; Type-B polo shirt worn with maong pants; and st Type-B uniform worn during the 1 and rd Special (3 )Term. COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES SECTION-B Students are enjoined to use the kind of style of shoes prescribed by the individual Faculty / College / Institute / School. Type-A uniform : Closed black leather shoes for male and female students. Socks for male students must be pure black at ankle-length; Socks should extend at least above the ankle; and No-show socks and low rising socks for men are not allowed. Sandals and slippers are NOT allowed. COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES SECTION-C Students must wear the validated University identification card at all times within the University premises. Loss of the identification card must be reported immediately to the Office for Student Affairs (OSA). SECTION-C (DO’s) The University ID must be worn especially upon entry in the University premises; and Students are required to use only the UST lanyard, or official CICS student organization’s lanyard. COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES SECTION-C (DON’T’s) Other photos/stickers insert and/or attached on the University ID’s case either in the front or reverse side of the University ID; and Use of his/her University ID by another person in any occasion. COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES SECTION-D Unless otherwise allowed by the administrators of the particular Faculty/College/Institute/ School for specific reasons, male students are not allowed to sport long hair. Hair should not touch the collar of the uniform. The use of hairpins, pony tails, headbands, etc. by male students is likewise not allowed. COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES DO’s Female students : 1. Tied in a bun, specifically if the hair is long, to keep it clean 2. Without hair dye / hair color Male students : 1. Must not touch the collar of the CICS polo shirt; 2. Must not touch the ear; 3. Without hair dye / hair color; 4. Topmost part of the hair should be at most 1.5 inches only; 5. Not wearing thick beard and/or mustache; and 6. Sideburns are up to the middle of the ear only. Bangs that reach the eyebrows. Male students : 1. Artificial color and or dye on hair; 2. Bangs that reach the eyebrows; 3. Sculpture done on the hair; and 4. Pony tails, hairpins, headbands to be worn by male students COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES Examples of Haircut that is NOT ALLOWED Note : photo taken from google.com COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES SECTION-E Again, unless otherwise permitted by the administrators of the particular Faculty / College / Institute / School, male students are not allowed to wear earrings, sport any form of body piercing and other accessories ordinarily used by females.” COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES DO’s Female students : 1. Female students are allowed to wear one (1) pair of simple earrings. Male students : 1. Note : photo taken from google.com COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES SECTION G On occasions when students are allowed to wear civilian attire, it is expected that they conform to the standards of propriety and decency. Micro-mini skirts (more than 3 inches from the kneecap), short-shorts, cycling pants, tube tops, sleeveless, plunging neckline blouses, see-through blouses, halter tops, backless tops, tank tops, leggings, sando, sleeveless jerseys, and slippers are considered inappropriate campus attire. COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES SECTION-G (contn) Any Faculty / College / Institute / School which seeks to take exception with respect to the provisions on Good Grooming, must duly and officially petition to the Father Rector for such exemption, with specific reasons/explanations. The letter of request for exemption must be discussed and approved by the Academic Senate. Upon approval of the exemption, the concerned Faculty/College/Institute/School must duly inform the Assistant to the Rector for Student Affairs and the SWDB Director. COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES ALL STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO PROUDLY WEAR THE CICS UNIFORM DURING ONLINE AND ONSITE CLASSES. COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES B. POLICY on the USE OF WEB CAMERA DURING ONLINE CLASS COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTING SCIENCES ALL STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO PREPARE AND USE A WEB CAMERA DURING ONLINE (SYNCHRONOUS) CLASSES TO ACTIVELY ENGAGE IN CLASSES/DISCUSSIONS.
