CC’s Coffee House® History CC’s Coffee House® was built on the belief that coffee can spark real connections. From the beginning, we aspired to improve lives, strengthen communities, and celebrate our shared humanity. We strive to make our coffee house a warm, inviting space, serving everyone with genuine care and exceptional service. A company guided by authenticity, excellence, and passion may seem foreign. But if you think back to where we started, it all makes sense. OUR BEGINNINGS In 1910, Henry Norman “Cap” Saurage opened his third grocery store, Full Weight Grocery. Within his store, he crafted delicious blends of roasted coffee of which he would serve fresh brewed cups to his neighbors and customers. With buzz growing around his coffee, he began selling it in small kraft paper bags. In 1919, he turned his full attention to this new coffee venture, naming it Community Coffee® in honor of those who supported him. As the years passed and Community grew, Cap’s packaging changed from those simple kraft bags to that ever-recognizable red. Every Louisianan will recognize that glossy red coffee bag on grocery store shelves. Just the scent of fresh coffee grounds brings them back to a simpler time, drinking warm, sweetened cups of coffee milk made effortlessly by their parents and grandparents. Community has come a long way from the days of horse-drawn cart deliveries. Keeping its promise of providing fresh quality coffee, it successfully entered the competitive market of retail coffee shops with CC’s Gourmet Coffee House®. NEW ADVENTURES Our first location opened on September 23, 1995, in a renovated pharmacy on the bustling corner of Magazine Street and Jefferson Avenue in New Orleans. From the moment we opened our doors, we strived to provide delicious products like no one else. We offered an array of specialty coffee blends and single-origin roasts, introducing our New Orleans guests to a new world of coffee. Soon, we moved to Baton Rouge to open our first drive thru location at Perkins Road and Bluebonnet Boulevard. Still committed to offering high-quality beverages and pastries, we became more convenient for our on-the-go Guests. Now, it did not matter if you chose to relax inside or zip through the drive thru. We were prepared to provide an enjoyable experience to all who visited us in every capacity. CC’s Coffee House, Bluebonnet, 9757 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70810. October 1999 CC’s Coffee House® History ON OUR OWN With future growth in mind, we took a leap and stepped out on our own. In 2013, CC’s became its own independent entity. In our leap, we had some wins and losses. We took every day as a lesson on how to serve our Guests better than anyone else. Every day was a new day to be better and do better. With this mindset, we’ve continued to grow, extending operations into north Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas with more on the horizon. In recent years, we’ve partnered with the Brookshire Grocery Company, opening non-traditional units in several Brookshire’s and Super1Foods locations. We’re also in the midst of developing a brand-new store concept designed to be faster and more convenient for our Guests. But with all the exciting operational developments, CC’s remains focused on the neighborhoods in which we serve, going beyond the counter with CC’s Cares™ Initiatives. Chords 4 Kids™: Chords 4 Kids grew out of the belief that the power of jazz can change our culture. The program is designed to empower middle-and high school musicians in our community, giving them the platform to showcase their musical talents to their friends, family, and neighbors. Grounds for Growth™: Grounds for Growth is a small step towards a more sustainable future. We provide used coffee grounds to school and community gardens to keep them healthy and thriving. We also provide lesson plans by grade level so students of every age can learn more about the importance of recycling and sustainability. Campus Clean Up: We believe leaders are formed in the schools and CC’s Coffee House, Jefferson, 7960 Jefferson Hwy, communities we serve. To prepare those future leaders for success, Baton Rouge, LA 70809. May 2024 our dedicated team members volunteer to help faculty and staff set up for the upcoming school year. Past projects include painting and setting up classrooms, working in flowerbeds, repainting parking lots and students areas, and so much more. TODAY AND EVERY DAY CC’s Coffee House has come a long way from its Community Coffee roots. From our focus on local communities to our commitment to fresh quality beverages and pastries, we aim to be more than a coffee house. We represent the Saurage family’s continued committment to providing unsurpassed quality and value. We aspire to be a welcoming home in your neighborhood. CC’s is and always will be committed to serving our Guests with exceptional coffee and genuine care. Your Pace. Your Place™
