      • 24% (19 questions) = Sport Psychology – Chapter 8
      • 21% (17 questions) = Nutrition – Chapters 9-11
      • 15 non-scored questions = 95 total questions / 80 scored

      • 36% (40 questions) = Chapters 14-16
      • 35% (38 questions) = Chapters 17-22
      • 11% (12 questions) = Chapter 23 + 24
      • 18% (20 questions) = Chapters 12 + 13
      • 15 non-scored questions = 125 total questions / 110 scored

Chapter 1: Structure and Function of Body Systems (1-18)

    • Musculoskeletal System
      • Skeleton: Muscles pull against bones to transmit force. Muscles can only pull, not push, but muscle pulling can act as a force on external objects. Axial Skeleton includes skull, vertebral column, ribs, and sternum. Appendicular Skeleton includes shoulder girdle and appendages. Joints include fibrous (no movement), cartilaginous (limited movement), and synovial (considerable movement). Specific types of synovial joints are uniaxial (hinge), biaxial, and multiaxial.
      • Skeletal Musculature: Epimysium (around entire muscle), fascicle (bundles of muscle fibers), endomysium (around each muscle fiber), perimysium (around each fascicle), myofibril (contain myosin and actin which form sarcomeres). Contraction occurs through the sliding filament theory, where calcium release from SR binds to troponin causing tropomyosin to move off the myosin binding site, allowing myosin heads to bind to actin, with stored ATP powering the stroke.

    Other Chapters (Summary)

    • Chapter 2: Biomechanics of Resistance Exercise: Biomechanics, musculoskeletal components for movement creation. Origin & insertion of muscles. Agonist (prime mover) and antagonist (slowing) muscles. Synergists (assist in movement) support the primary movers.
