CORE VALUES BY: MRS. MARITES L. ABABAO UB CORE VALUES: FAITH IN GOD (SPIRIT) LOVE OF WISDOM (INTELLECT) SERVICE TO FELLOWMEN (PURPOSE) PHILOSOPHY MISSION CORE VALUES VISION OBJECTIVES Core Values These are underlying ideas or beliefs that inform and affect the attitudes, actions, and judgments of people, groups, or communities. These deeply entrenched values serve as a guide for determining what is good or bad, significant or trivial, and desirable or undesired. Importance of teaching core values: 1. Ethical development: The university is in charge of making sure that the students acquire moral and ethical principles. Teachers may help students develop a sense of social responsibility and empower them to make moral decisions in both their personal and professional life by emphasizing fundamental values like honesty, integrity, respect, and empathy. 2. Character formation: Producing UBIANS who are adaptable and resilient to societal demands is part of our commitment to the students and the community. UBIANS who would support the restoration and restructuring of Philippine society. Students' character is shaped by their core beliefs, which encourage traits like tenacity, adaptability, and responsibility. These qualities are essential for success in the workplace, in school, and in society at large. 3. Creating a positive learning environment: The creation of a supportive and inclusive learning environment is facilitated by core values. A culture of openness, diversity, and collaboration is fostered when pupils are taught the value of respect, tolerance, and open-mindedness. Better communication, more involvement, and academic results follow as a result. This is plainly visible in the institution, where it creates a welcoming atmosphere for studying for all students. 4. Professionalism and employability: Professional behavior and workplace ethics are highly correlated with core principles. Higher education gives students the skills they need to succeed in their chosen vocations by fostering values like professionalism, cooperation, and ethical decision-making. The university is working hard to instill in each student the concept of core values not just as an academic requirement but as a lesson for lifelong learning in order to prepare the UBIANS to be employment ready. People that exhibit honesty, leadership, and a strong work ethic are highly valued by employers. 5. Civic engagement and social responsibility: Higher education has a crucial role in shaping engaged citizens who contribute positively to society. By teaching core values, students are encouraged to become active participants in their communities, promoting social justice, environmental sustainability, and the well-being of others. Core values inspire students to use their knowledge and skills to make a difference in the world. The third core value of UB which is service to fellowmen is our response to the needs of civic engagement and social responsibility. 6. Personal growth and well-being: Education is about more than just academic success; it's also about fostering personal development and overall wellbeing. Core values aid in the formation of pupils' emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and moral compass. These traits support their overall wellbeing and give them the ability to overcome obstacles and reach wise judgments throughout their life. Instead of producing board and bar passers, the University of Batangas aspires to produce professionals who love knowledge, believe in God, and are willing to serve others. Responsible, sympathetic, and morally uprights citizens
