The Five Pillars of Islam: Profession of Faith (Shahada): Declaring that \"There is no god but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God\" is fundamental to becoming a Muslim. Prayer (Salat): Muslims pray five times daily facing Mecca, incorporating recitations from the Qur\'an. Prayers can be individual or communal, with a special emphasis on Friday noon prayers in mosques. Alms (Zakat): Muslims are required to give a portion of their income to help those in need, with many also contributing to community institutions like mosques and hospitals. Fasting (Sawm): During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset to foster gratitude and empathy for the less fortunate, as well as to commemorate the revelation of the Qur\'an. Pilgrimage (Hajj). Every Muslim who is physically and financially able must perform at least one pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The pilgrimage centres around the Kaaba, a cubical structure believed to be built by Abraham for God. Muslims face the Kaaba when praying and gather there during specific days in the final month of the Islamic calendar, following the tradition established by the Prophet Muhammad.
