If there is a call, there must be a caller and someone who is called. There must also be a response. THE TEACHING PROFESSION EDUC 55 Teaching as a Mission Mission - comes from the Latin word missio – which means to send. - “task assigned” “You are sent to accomplish an assigned task.” THE TEACHING PROFESSION EDUC 55 Teaching as a Profession Profession - rooted in profess – which means someone claims to have the status and purpose. - requires special training and that brings a high status Professional - shows great skills and high standards THE TEACHING PROFESSION EDUC 55 Elements of a Profession 1.
