Indigenous artifacts REFLECTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The **"Salaw" or the Bamboo Fish Trap**. A Bamboo Fish Trap or "Salaw" is a traditional and effective tool used for catching fish in various water bodies. The trap is typically made from bamboo, which is cut and shaped into a cylindrical or conical structure. One end is open, while the other end has a narrow entrance that allows fish to enter but makes it difficult for them to escape. ![](media/image2.jpeg)A **Coal Iron**, also known as a Charcoal Iron, is a type of iron that was commonly used before the advent of electric irons, used by the Filipinos during the 1900s. The primary use of a coal iron was to press clothes and remove wrinkles. The hot base of the iron would smooth out fabrics, making them look neat and tidy. The iron typically had a box-like structure with a handle on top. The lid could be opened to place hot coals inside, which would keep the iron hot for a longer period compared to solid irons. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These indigenous objects caught my attention during my visit to the museum because of their significant contributions to our ancestors and their relevance to people today. What also caught my attention was their unique design and the smart uses or functions of these objects, and the convenience they provide that makes our lives easier. Museums are important in preserving the cultural heritage of indigenous communities. By safeguarding these artifacts, museums ensure that future generations can learn about and appreciate the rich history and traditions of these cultures. Indigenous art and artifacts often showcase incredible craftsmanship and creativity. By exhibiting these works, museums can inspire contemporary artists and innovators, highlighting the ongoing relevance and influence of indigenous cultures. I would definitely recommend visiting museums that showcase indigenous objects, arts, and exhibits to my friends and relatives because by visiting museums, my friends and relatives contribute to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. Their interest and support can help ensure these traditions are maintained for future generations. Also, Museums often provide a unique and enjoyable way to spend time. Exploring exhibits can be both fun and enriching, making it a great activity to share with my friends and family.
