INTERSUBJECTIVITY (4th presenter) INTERPERSONAL is a word we used in describing interactions between people. In philosophy however, we are referring to interactions that exist between the Self and the Other. “INTERPERSONAL” a. inter = a prefix which means 'between b. person = which means 'human' o...

INTERSUBJECTIVITY (4th presenter) INTERPERSONAL is a word we used in describing interactions between people. In philosophy however, we are referring to interactions that exist between the Self and the Other. “INTERPERSONAL” a. inter = a prefix which means 'between b. person = which means 'human' or 'individual' c. -al = a suffix which means, 'pertaining to' or having the 'character of Interpersonal INTERSUBJECTIVITY a condition of relationship between subjects or persons. Self recognizes the Other and the Other recognizes the Self, intersubjectivity happens. “INTERSUBJECTIVITY” a. inter= again this is a prefix which means 'between' b. subject = this refers to a person or thing that is being discussed with. c. -ity = a suffix used to form nouns which expresses state or condition 2 levels of intersubjectivity: 1.First Level- “Existence of the other” 2.Deeper Level- “Being seen by others” Seeming- We modify our behavior depending on where we are. Presenting yourself in a certain way when dealing with others or your social context 2 forms of Seeming: 1.Positive Seeming- Pleasant behavior 2.Negative Seeming- Manipulative behavior The Human Person in Society(5th PRESENTER) SOCIETY- a group of individuals living in a organized community sharing norms, culture, and territory SOCIAL MOVEMENT- a large scale action done by various groups and organizations in a pursuit of common goal or change. KEY FACTORS OF SOCIETY ​ Relationship ​ Common Territory ​ Shared Goals WHY DO WE ESTABLISH SOCIETY? ​ Connection ​ Survival ​ Growth 7 TYPES OF SOCIETY: ​ Hunting and Gathering Society- people are nomadic/no permanent place ​ Pastoral Society- raising of animals ​ Horticultural Society- they plant fruits and vegetables ​ Agricultural Society- where pastoral and horticultural takes place/ they plant and raise animals ​ Feudal Society- has hierarchy/ land 4 layers of pyramid in feudal 1.​ Monarch 2.​ Lords & Bishops 3.​ Knights 4.​ Peasants ​ Industrial Society- innovation period/machinery ​ Post-Industrial Society- known as virtual (computer) society SOCIAL RULES: NORMS- expected/common behaviors in society LAWS- formal written/ leads to punishments FOLKWAYS- informal written/ embarrassed & judged by society Human Persons as Oriented Towards Their Impending Death(6th presenter) DEATH- end of bodily functions/ separation of the body and spirit TWO WAYS OF END END AS TERMINUS- “full stop” or “end of a line” END AS TELOS-”goal purpose or fulfillment” THE REALITY OF OUR HUMAN CONDITION “is inevitable “we are temporal beings or being originated towards death” 2 EXPERIENCES THAT MAKES US REFLECT THE MEANING OF LIFE: 1.HAPPINESS-a state of being (overall physical condition of a person) 2.SUFFERING-state of feeling discomfort or pain KINDS OF GOOD 1.NOBLE GOOD- is pursued for its own mistake 2.USEFUL GOOD- found only from what it can provide 3.PLEASURABLE GOOD- provides some form of pleasure
