Altruistic values arise from commitments to and satisfaction from receiving through giving. INSTILLATION OF FAITH-HOPE Patient’s beliefs are encouraged, honored and respected as significant influences in promot- ing and maintaining health THEORY OF TRANSPERSONAL CARING CULTIVATION OF SENSITIVITY TO SELF AND OTHERS Nurses who are sensitive to others are better able to learn about another’s view of the world which, subsequently, increases concern for oth- ers’ comfort, recovery, and wellness. DEVELOPMENT OF HELPING-TRUSTING, HUMAN CARING RELATIONSHIP The nurse en- ters into the experience of another person, and another can enter into the nurse’s experiences THEORY OF TRANSPERSONAL CARING PROMOTION AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE EXPRESSION OF POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE FEELINGS A focus on feelings and the “non-rational” emo- tional aspects of an event is necessary for nurses engaged in the human caring process. SYSTEMATIC USE OF THE SCIENTIFIC PROBLEM-SOLVING METHOD FOR DECISION MAKING A creative approach acknowledges that nurses use all ways of know/being/doing in engaging in clinical caring. This process involves full use of self and all of one’s faculties, knowledge, instincts, intuition, aesthetics, technology, skills, empirics, ethics, personal and even spiritual knowing. THEORY OF TRANSPERSONAL CARING PROMOTION OF INTERPERSONAL TEACHING LEARNING Learning is more than just receiving informa- tion and data. It involves a caring relationship as context for any teaching learning. PROVISION FOR A SUPPORTIVE, PROTECTIVE, AND CORRECTIVE MENTAL, PHYSICAL, SOCIOCULTURAL, AND SPIRITUAL ENVIRONMENT nurses, through their presence, consciousness, and intentional actions, can significantly influence a patient's healing process THEORY OF TRANSPERSONAL CARING ASSISTANCE WITH GRATIFICATION OF HUMAN NEEDS Learning is more than just receiving informa- tion and data. It involves a caring relationship as context for any teaching learning.
