Stated the planets the sun and the moon moved in a circular motion around the earth. --- existence of days and nights. COPERNICAN REVOLUTION Nicolaus Copernicus (16th Century) ▪ A polish mathematician and astronomer. ▪ Introduced Heliocentric Theory, which suggested the he center of the Solar System was not the earth but actually the sun. ▪ Birth of modern astronomy. Geocentric vs. Heliocentric DARWINIAN REVOLUTION DARWINIAN REVOLUTION English naturalist, biologist and geologist. All life is related and has descended from a common ancestor: the birds and the bananas, the fishes and flowers --all related. In 1859, he published his book, On the Origin of Species. complex creatures evolve from more simplistic ancestors naturally over time. THEORY OF EVOLUTION Introduced the theory of evolution, which posited that populations pass through a process of natural selection in which only the fittest would survive. Stated that organism have the ability to adapt to their environment and would gradually change to something that would be more competitive to survive, a process called evolution. FREUDIAN REVOLUTION FREUDIAN REVOLUTION SIGMUND FREUD (19th Century) Was the founding of Psychoanalysis, a method for treating mental illness and also a theory which explains human behavior. Was able to change people’s perception of Psychology with his revolutionary of Psychoanalysis, a study that explains human behavior. He argued that personality is a product of three FREUDIAN REVOLUTION ID - is made up of unconscious psychic energy that works to satisfy basic needs, urges, and desires. Super Ego - Super Ego is composed of people’s internalized ideas acquired from parents and society. works to suppress the urges od the Id and tries to make the ego behave normally, rather than realistically.
