Values) Madrasah -- a Muslim school, teaches Islamic values, Islamic religion and Arabic literacy Islamic values -- universal values based on Islam IPEd -- Indigenous People Education (for the Lumad) Functions of Education: *Socialization* -- for better community development through healthy and proper social interaction. *Social Integration* -- for the incorporation of the children to the society's structure, consistent with the culture and traditions *Social Placement* -- leads to occupational roles the children will perform later in the society. *Social and Cultural Innovation* -- leads people to innovate out of their creativity and critical mindedness. Other functions of Education: *1. Intellectual* -- cognitive skills, critical and creative thinking *2. Political* -- civic attitudes and consciousness and those relating to you as young citizens of the country. *3. Social* -- on interaction with people, in the family, school, church, and community. *4. Economic* -- preparation for occupational role, and in the labor industry. *5. Cultural* -- transmission of culture and traditions *6. Educational* -- how are the institutions of learning doing their function? Categories of the Functions of Culture: Manifest Function - Intended Latent Function -- Not intended Types of Education: Formal Education - is training that has a specific curriculum. It's clear what will be taught, in what way the content will be delivered, and how the student's learning will be measured (eg. tests, presentations, research articles, etc). The goal is to provide learners with the tools they need to eventually reach more complex material.
