Student will be able to explain Ant's law to determine the number of abutments for fixed prosthesis Student will have the ability to mention solutions for tilted and pier abutment Definitions Bridge (Fixed Partial Denture) Bridge (fixed partial denture) A prosthetic appliance that is definitively attached to remaining teeth and replaces a missing tooth or teeth. Abutment Abutment Abutment A tooth which provides attachment and support for a bridge. Retainer Retainer Retainer The component that is cemented to the abutments to provide retention for the prosthesis. Pontic Pontic Pontic The artificial tooth that is suspended from the abutments. Connector Connector Connector The component that joins the pontic to the retainer.
