(Discussion on leadership qualities then teacher organizes the thoughts) G Do you remember the child Moses? G Could you explain the incident of Moses being rescued from river Nile? G What did God speak to Moses in the burning bush? Recollect and Share…… 2424 God had chosen Moses, who was obedient and God-fearing, as the leader of Israel in order to liberate the Israelites from the exile of Pharaoh. When the Israelites were struggling miserably because of forced labours imposed on them by the Egyptians, they cried aloud and prayed to God: “Lord God, do not punish us, but help us and liberate us.” Having heard their cry, God appeared to Moses in a burning bush and said to him, “The cry of the Israelites has now come to me; I have also seen how the Egyptians oppress them. So come, I will send you to Pharaoh to bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, “O my Lord, who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and bring the Israelites out of Egypt? I have never been eloquent; I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” Then God said to him, I will be with your mouth and teach you what you are to speak. Take with you your brother Aaron; he indeed shall speak for you to the people.” As God commanded him, Moses went to the palace of Pharaoh. His broth- er Aaron was also with him. Listen to the Conversation: Oh Mighty King, Let the people of God, the Israelites go from this land. This is the command of God 2525 Who is this God? I don’t know him. I will not let the Israelites go from here God commands that if you do not let them go, every firstborn in the land of Egypt, including your elder son shall die. 2626 Since Pharaoh did not obey the command of God, his elder son died. Besides, every Egyptian family was struck with the death of firstborn child. Pharaoh became very sad. He called Moses and Aaron, and said: A great misery has smashed on my country. There is not even a single house without someone dead. I am afraid of your God. And now, you rise up, go away from my people, both you and the Israelites Thus Moses, the leader of Israelites, had delivered the people of God from the exile of Pharaoh; and he led them to Canaan. 2727 After Israelites had gone out of the Land of Egypt under the leadership of Moses, they came into the valley of Mount Sinai. Then God said to Moses, “Let the people stay down at the valley; and you alone come up to the mountain.” When Moses went up to the mountain, God gave him two tablets of stone and said: Moses, Moses, here are the two stone tablets having Ten Commandments written on it, written with my own fingers.
