Recollect and Share…… 2424  God had chosen Moses, who was obedient and God-fearing, as the leader of Israel in order to liberate the Israelites from the exile of Pharaoh. When the Israelites were struggling miserably because of forced labours imposed on them by the Egyptians, they cried aloud and prayed to God: “Lord God, do not punish us, but help us and liberate us.” Having heard their cry, God appeared to Moses in a burning bush and said to him, “The cry of the Israelites has now come to me; I have also seen how the Egyptians oppress them. So come, I will send you to Pharaoh to bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, “O my Lord, who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and bring the Israelites out of Egypt? I have never been eloquent; I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” Then God said to him, I will be with your mouth and teach you what you are to speak. Take with you your brother Aaron; he indeed shall speak for you to the people.” As God commanded him, Moses went to the palace of Pharaoh. His broth- er Aaron was also with him.
