 Career Exploration HOW TO USE THIS RESOURCE Hello Educator Friends! To use this fun and easy Career Interest Lesson Plan and Activity: *Please note this is a very unofficial and basic Career Interest Inventory designed to start children on the path to thinking about potential careers. When students finish their inventory, they may find multiple areas with similar numbers. If this happens, they may choose their favorite area/cluster to talk about and read about. ! Copy the Career Survey (pages 1-4) for each student. ! Make copies of the sample careers. There are 2-3 sample careers for each career cluster. 2-3 copies of each should be fine. Store in a binder by cluster for organization, and if you will not be requiring the students to respond to the question at the bottom of the page. ! Use the lesson plan to instruct students on how to complete it. ! Once completed, give students sample careers from the Career Cluster where they scored the highest. ! Engage students in discussion about their thoughts on what career is best for them, and why. ! It is possible to stretch this lesson to a 2 day or 2 classroom visit (for school counselors) lessons. ! Day 1-Lesson Plan, discussion, and survey ! Day 2-Sharing results and exploring sample careers.
