## Chapter 2 Key Terms: World Health | Key Terms | Definitions | |---|---| | Field Missions | A group of people who have been sent to a foreign country to carry out an official task. | | Revolutionary | A person who works for or arranges a change in secrecy. | | Concelenme | A situation in which events happen at the same time in a way that is not planned. | | SARS | A serious disease that is caused by a virus & that affects your ability to breathe. | | Epidemiologist | A person who studies how diseases spread and can be controlled. | ## Lesson #1: Factors that Affect the Health of People Worldwide ### Cause & Consequence Chains #### 1. Climate Change Increase in average temperature leads to shrinking ice in the Arctic and decreasing seal populations. These factors affect fruit hunting methods. Without enough food to eat, starvation sets in, making the population more likely to get sick. #### 2. Flooding Flooding leads to polluted drinking water. This causes a natural disaster that affects the health of users. ## Lesson #1: Factors that Affect the Health of People Worldwide ### Cause & Consequence Chains #### 3. Drought Lack of run leads to crops failing which causes famine. Stravation follows, causing the inability to fight infections. Sicknesses, in turn, lead to death. #### 4. Lack of Access & Treatment Poor economic conditions result in poverty.
