Kayak originated as a means of transportation for native hunters, travellers, warriors, and traders. First kayak were created in the Arctic region by the Inuit people. Used primarily for hunting and fishing. Made with wooden wood frames and covered with sealskin. Father of Modern Kayak John Mac Gregor has given new life to the kayak activity. Previous history, kayak was used as a transportation but now includes broader aspects of sports, leisure and education. John Mac Gregor known as a father of modern kayak He was a British seaman of the Scott Nation. His travels around the world have provided him with many experiences. Eskimo role techniques discover by John Mac Gregor. In 1865, he built a modern kayak based on the kayak he saw in the Arctic, it called as a Rob Roy. From 1865 to 1867 he explored European rivers using this kayak. The History of Kayak in Malaysia In Malaysia, the history of kayak activities has begun much earlier as the main transport. Early inhabitants who lived in tropical forests used logs as a mode of transport known as kolek, perahu and sampan in Malaysia. In 60’s and kayak was introduced by the British navy based in Woodlands, Singapore. Kayaking activities expanded throughout the country with the help of KBS and MASCA.
