REVISED ORDINANCE No. 77 B. E. FOUR YEAR DEGREE COURSE SEMESTER SYSTEM 1 The course of study for the degree of Bachelor of Engineering shall extend over a period for FOUR years consisting of EIGHT semesters as per schemes of Examination of syllabus prescribed. 2 Each year shall be divided into two semesters designed as odd and even semester. Teaching for odd semesters shall normally cortmence in July of the academic year and for even semesters in December of the same academic year. 3 Fresh admissions after selection through the combined entrance test conducted by V.P.P. Mandal shall to be made only in the first semester. However this will not apply to those candidate whose admissions are controlled by the C.G. Govt. relating to the reservations 4 Admission to odd semester shall by given normally in the month of July/August and admission to the even semesters in the month of December/January each academic year. In order to be eligible for admission to the next higher semester the candidate must have appeared at the preceding semester examination. In case of serious sickened of candidates at the time of examination admission to the next higher semester may be given provided the candidate has submitted proper medical certificate of his sickness to the satisfaction of the principal of the College before commencement of the examination. 5 There shall be a university Examination at the end of each semester' These examinations will normally be held during November/December for the odd semester and April/May for even semester. Each of these examinations shall be a frrll examination comprising of all the subjects taught in the odd and even semester. For the benefit of the outgoing students from the college there shall be a second examination of eight semester only as early as possible after the declaration of result of eighth semester, candidates who do not clear the seventh semestff examination, will not be entitled to appear at this second examination. 6 A candidate who does not secure the minimum of 85oZ of attendance in each theory & practical of any semester, shall be qualified for appearing in the ensuing examination and or shall be required to take re-admission during the next even or odd semester, as the case may be in which he has been detained, so.ts to complete the academic requirements. (i) A condonation of 10o% in respect of attendance may be granted by the principal of the college and further condonation of 5olo by the Kulpati. (ii) Absence due to participation in NCC/I{SS camps and due to participation as member of the college/University team in intercollegiate or inter-university competitions shall be taken as full attendance. (iiD It shall be the entire responsibility of the student to ensure that he has secured the required percentage of attendance for being eligible to appear in the examination within the specified period. (iv) Filling of examination from, payment of exam. fee issue of admission card by the University shall not entitle the student to appear in examination unless ten days before the commencement of the examination he satisfies the Principal of the college that he has secured minimum percentage of attendance & minimum sessional marks. 7 Preparation leave of ten days shall normally be given prior to the commencement of written examination. 8 There shall be theory and practical examination in each semester. The minimum pass marks in each of the theory paper, practical and sessional shall be 35%, 50%, 60% respectively. To pass a semester examination an examinee shall have to secure a minimum of 50% of the total aggregate of marks. To make up the shortage in the total 2 aggegate of marks a candidate will be required to re-aPpear in not more than two theory papers ofhis choice. Condonation of deficiency of marks up to the extent of 500% shall be awarded in each semester examination to the best advantage of the candidate. 9 A candidate shall be allowed to carry over all the subjects' i. e. theory and practical of a semester in the next higher semester. He shall be required to clear, in the next semester examination, in only that subject (theory and practical) in which he did not secure the minimum pass marks. 10. A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the V. VI, VII and VIII semester, provided he/she has passed the first, second, third and fourth semester respectively. But he shall be allowed to appear in any two of the three consecutive semester examination. ll. A candidate who has appeared in the Eighth semester but has not cleared all the subjects (theory and practical) of seventh semester shall not be issued unit he clears all the subjects his result shall be with held and marks sheet of eighth semester in the subsequent examinations. 12. The division shall be awarded to the candidates at the and of even semester except 8th semester i.e. 2nd, 4th, and 6th only after including the marks of the preceding odd semester. 13. The award of division for the B. E. degree i. e' after passing 8th semester shall be based on the marks secured in all the semester examination wirh weightage assigned as follows: First and Second Semester: 10oZ oftotal score Third and Fourth Semester 207o of total score Fifth and Sixth Semester: 20% oftotal score Seventh and Eighth semester - 100% of total score 14. The award ofdivision shall be on the following basis:- 3 (a) Candidates securing 50% but less than 650/o of the total marks shall be placed in the SECOND division. (b) Candidates securing 65%o blt less than 7 5%o of the total marks shall be placed in the FIRST division. (c) Candidates securing 'l5o/o and above of the total marks be placed in FIRST division with HONOURS. 15. The provision of Ordinance 5 and 6 shall be applicable only to the extent that they are not inconsistent with the provisions ofthis Ordinance. 4
