Good Governance Principles Participation Involving citizens in decision-making processes: This means that citizens have a meaningful role in shaping policies, programs, and projects that affect their lives. It can take various forms, such as public consultations, town hall meetings, participatory budgeting, and e-participation. Empowering communities: This involves strengthening local communities to take ownership of their development and address their own challenges. It includes providing resources, capacity building, and supporting community-led initiatives. Rule of Law Establishing a legal framework: This refers to creating a clear and consistent set of laws and regulations that govern society. It includes ensuring that laws are accessible, understandable, and enforceable. Protecting rights: This involves safeguarding the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals, such as the right to life, liberty, and security of person. It also includes protecting economic, social, and cultural rights. Ensuring accountability: This means that public officials are held responsible for their actions and decisions.
