Write about the events of the final year of his life. ## Ans23(a) The Final Year of the Prophet's Life ### Para 1: The Farewell Pilgrimage (Hajj al-Wada) After the idols in the Ka'bah had been smashed and Quraysh had become Muslim, most of the other tribes of Arabia came to declare their Islam. The year in which they came was later to be called the Year of Deputations where tribes accepted Islam. In 631 AD (10 AH), The Holy Prophet announced his intention for Hajj. About 124,000 Muslims from all over Arabia joined the Holy Prophet on this special journey. He left on 25th Zul Qada, reciting, "Here I am [at your service] O God, here I am. Here I am [at your service]. You have no partners (other gods). To You alone is all praise and all excellence, and to You is all sovereignty”. He then reached Makkah and performed Tawaf. On 8th Zilhaj he then moved towards Mina and offered Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha. The next morning after Fajr he reached Arafat and gave a speech known as Farewell Sermon. In this sermon, he talked about the main teachings of Islam and gave advice to the Muslim community. In his farewell sermon he said, "O people! Listen to my words, for I do not know whether I shall ever meet you in this place again after this year!". Muslims should regard the lives and property of other Muslims as sacred. Quran and Sunnah are the guiding principles. Those who are entrusted with someone else's property should stay true to their trust. * "Usury is abolished”, * "O my people! You have rights over your wives and your wives have rights over you." * "The Arabs are not superior to Non Arabs nor the Non Arabs to Arabs." * "All Muslims are brothers.” Kind treatment of slaves. They should be given the same food and clothes that we use. Their mistakes should be forgiven. Holy Prophet also said that those who abuse slaves will not enter Paradise. * Importance of 5 pillars of Islam was also mentioned. * Lastly, No prophet will ever come after Holy Prophet, nor will any new religion be born.
