Like a seed grows into a tree – the word is convincing me that I have what it says I have. I praise God because I believe I have it. Compiled by Dr. Theo Wolmarans DAY 1: God’s vision for Me 2024 is the year of more! As we kick off 21 days of Prayer August 2024, let’s meditate on our theme scripture: Psalm 115: 14-15 (AMP) May the Lord give you [great] increase, You and your children. May you be blessed of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Praise God, who is a God of abundantly MORE than we can ever ask or imagine (Ephesians. 3:20) – especially in our lives and ministry. Accomplishing that which God has destined us to accomplish from before time began. Do you know what God’s purpose is and what work has been assigned to you? The Apostle Paul recognized the importance of this knowledge, stating, “My life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus...” (Acts 20:24). Paul also prayed that we would be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1:9). As we pursue our relationship with the Lord, we can trust that God is the One who “instructs us and teaches us in the way in which we shall go” (Psalm 32:8). Only God “reveals the deep and secret things” of His plan for each of us. (Daniel 2:22). As God wills and works, we receive not only the knowledge of His will but also the desire to reach our full potential and the power to do so! As this new season approaches, school year, etc., pursuing our assignment in our personal ministry and purpose obviously impacts our individual lives—but this is the year of more. Let’s discover our calling to serve God's kingdom and become strong, mature members of his body. Let’s pray: Lord, we come before You to seek Your purpose, Your plans, and Your will for our lives. Thank You for revealing Your perfect will for our lives in all wisdom and spiritual understanding so we can fully please You in all we do. By Katelyn Mead DAY 2: Living Free in Christ In John 8:36 (NIV), Jesus says, So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. God’s Word speaks truth, freedom, and victory. Christ HAS ALREADY set us free from bondage, sin, sickness, poverty, disease, and every curse! Webster defines “Freedom” as: “The ABSENCE of NECESSITY” “LIBERATION from SLAVERY – or the POWER of ANOTHER” Imagine that! Jesus did this for us! Jesus says in John 10:10b (NKJV): “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it MORE abundantly.” Imagine living a “more abundant” life! An abundant life VOID of necessity…. LIBERATION from slavery AND the POWER of another! Freedom is LIVING in the fullness of joy. Freedom is loving unconditionally without reservation. Freedom is experiencing and living in total peace, and freedom is living in Christ Jesus. All of THIS is what the enemy wants to steal, kill, and destroy. Let’s look at a few of the enemy’s schemes: Unforgiveness -- Self-righteousness -- Being Critical/Judgmental -- Jealousy Fear – Anxiety -- Insecurity/Inferiority -- Sin/Shame—Habits – Debt – Wrong Relationships When we carry hurts and wounds of the past, we build walls that keep us in bondage and prevent freedom. We have all made poor choices, but TODAY is our day to tear down those walls and receive our freedom! Zechariah 9:12 (KJV): Turn you to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope: even today do I declare that I will restore DOUBLE unto you. 1 John 5:4 (NKJV): For EVERY child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith! Father, thank you for promising us freedom through Christ. You know, the areas of our lives that are holding us back. Enlighten the eyes of our understanding and thank you that through the finished work of the cross, we receive freedom TODAY, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN! By Yvonne Jenson DAY 3: Children and Students Imagine a home buzzing with curiosity, a playground filled with laughter, and a young mind brimming with potential. That’s the flourishing life Psalm 115:14-15 describes. As parents and adults who nurture children and students, we have the privilege of cultivating this flourishing faith. And true flourishing comes from a deep-rooted connection with God. But how do we raise children who are steadfast in their faith when culture relentlessly seeks to deceive and confuse them? The Apostle Paul experienced this with the church in Philippi. Paul encouraged the church to be steadfast in the Lord and directed them to think about “whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise” (Philippians 4:8). Essentially, Paul called these believers to be steadfast in their faith by developing godly character and conduct— the results of pursuing biblical wisdom. Parents can adopt this same plan for raising kids in today’s culture. We must lead our children to intentionally develop biblical wisdom and discernment so they may live with steadfast faith in this broken world. Be a Light: Our own faith journey can illuminate the path for them. Share your own experiences of navigating difficult times and finding hope in God. Plant the Seeds of Knowledge: Spark their curiosity about the Bible, foster a love of learning, and encourage questions. Guide Through Challenges: Life throws curveballs. Be there to support them through these challenges. Help them find healthy ways to express their emotions and guide them towards trusting God’s plan. Nurture Their Gifts: Every child is uniquely talented. Help them discover their gifts and use them to glorify God and serve others. This will bring a sense of purpose and joy. By creating an environment where faith can flourish, we help children develop a strong foundation that will guide them throughout their lives. Remember, we are partners with God in nurturing these young hearts and minds. Let’s work together to help them blossom into their full potential. By Cori Smelker DAY 4: Parenting As we continue with 21 Days of Prayer, let us embrace the theme “2024 The Year of More” in regard to parenting, seeking more of His wisdom, patience, and guidance, trusting that His divine increase will carry your family and guide your steps. Psalms 115:14-15 (AMP) says, “May the LORD give you [great] increase, You and your children.May you be blessed of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.” This powerful promise is a reminder that God desires to bless and increase you and your family. Here are a few points to stand on in prayer, trusting God to help you grow as a parent: Faith— Challenges often accompany parenting, and we need a deep reservoir of faith to carry us through. Proverbs 22:6 (NIV) instructs, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it.” When you instill faith and plant the Word into your children, you can stand on this promise. Share stories of faith with them and encourage them to seek God in every situation. Wisdom – James 1:5 (NIV) says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Parenting inevitably leads to situations that require divine wisdom. Ask God to guide you and encourage your children to do the same. Guidance – Proverbs 3:5 (NLT) says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” Apostle Theo has taught us to stand on Colossians 1:9-10 as a prayer when we do not know what to do next. Pray: Father, I thank You that I am filled with the knowledge of Your will for my life (and my children’s lives) in all wisdom and spiritual understanding that I might fully please You in all things. We are praying for you, believing God will lead you to become the parent He has called you to be. By Ps Natalie van Rensburg DAY 5: Families, Marriages, & Singles From the very beginning, God has shown us that we are not meant to be alone (Genesis 2:18). Whether single or married, our relationships are a source of joy and fulfillment, a precious gift. While navigating them can be challenging, we can find comfort in the guidance that Scripture provides. Regardless of your relationship status, the hallmark of that status is love. For singles, this love is directed towards God with an undivided heart. Marriage and family add beautiful complexities, but the core remains the same. For singles, Paul highlights the advantages in 1 Corinthians 7:32-35. Freedom from worldly anxieties allows you to focus on serving God with a clear mind. This is a unique strength for the body of Christ! For those who are married, here are six life-enriching lessons for your marriage. 1. Be kind on the good days and the bad. Matthew 5:45-46 2. Forgive quickly. Luke 23:33-34 3. Be patient with one another. Ephesians 4:2-3 4. Give each other grace. Ephesians 2:8 5. Wives honor with submission. Ephesians 5:22-24 6. Men cherish your wives. Ephesians 5:25-33 For the families. Family is an essential concept in the Bible. God instituted family when He created Eve as a helpmeet for Adam. The rest of the Bible speaks of family in its various roles and, most importantly, the church as God’s family. God uses families throughout history to enact His will. The promise God made to Abraham in Genesis 15:5 involves family. “‘Look toward heaven, and number the stars if you are able to number them.’ Then He said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’” As the Abrahamic Covenant reveals, God has made you a part of a family too large to number. A family that ultimately led to the birth of Jesus Christ, our Messiah. You are not just a member, but a key and significant part of this family. By Ps Carrie Hall DAY 8: Our Pastors, Church Staff, Small Group Leaders, Dream Team Leaders Psalm 115:14-15 (AMP). May the Lord give your (great) increase, you and your children. May you be blessed of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Amazing pastors and leaders are a gift from God. They have been placed here by the Lord to serve us, pray for us, give us food from the Word, equip us, and inspire us to move forward by encouraging us to use our gifts and talents. The Lord has placed you here, under the leadership of the pastors and leaders at CFC, because He has increase and blessing in mind for you. Did you know that increase can come into your life as you honor the gifts God places in your life? Have you ever thought of those gifts as your own pastors and church leaders? Apostle Theo and Ps. Bev are committed to feeding you a Word from Heaven each week. They, along with every leader, believe for you to stand full and complete in all the will of God for your life. Planted in a ministry that offers continual guidance and encouragement, you can expect to continue growing and deepening your spiritual walk as you keep your heart open to receive and apply your faith. Today, as we think about our leaders, let us declare over them that they are blessed, refreshed, filled to overflowing with the Joy of the Lord, and prospering. As they give out of the overflow to lead us, God pours back into them, pressed down, shaken together with blessings ‘running over.’ As they are blessed and grow, so do we. Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for our Pastors and leaders. Thank you that under their leadership, we stand full and complete in all the will of God for our lives lacking nothing with continued increase. Thank you for Your Divine Wisdom, Holy Spirit direction. The gift of Faith continually increases in their lives. We pray for protection and unity and that our leaders continually experience multiplication and tremendous blessings in their lives. By Ps Esther van Rensburg DAY 9: Small Groups: Members, real life change & discipleship Psalm 115:14-15 (AMP) May the Lord give you [great] increase, You and your children. May you be blessed of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. Small groups: Mark 10:43-45 (…who wants to become great, must be your servant..) As we serve others, we become one with the Word and with Christ, who is love. Small groups are the hands and feet of Jesus, acting as His instruments. Just as a glove only moves with a hand inside it, we must allow Christ to work through us by becoming servants to one another. The unity and perseverance of the 120 in the upper room birthed permanent revival and the birth of God's Church. Similarly, the Azusa Street Revival started in a humble house through unity and brought forth a global move of the Spirit. Let us not forsake the fellowship of the brethren. Be hospitable and share each other’s burdens in prayer (James 5:16). Life Change: God is calling the body of Christ to receive the keys of David. David was a man after God's own heart due to his attitude toward repentance. "Search my heart, O God, try me and know my thoughts, and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalms 139: 23-24. Asking the Heavenly Father for freedom through repentance and deliverance from evil is the key of David. Discipleship: Jesus' ministry focused on making disciples. Sharing our testimony of how Jesus came into our hearts is a good starting point. We must always remain disciples of Jesus, as we can only guide others as far as our own experiences. Discipleship requires discipline; we must be disciplined in the Word and in prayer to receive power and become witnesses to others. Mark 16: 15-20 Say this: “The blessing we receive for our children and our increase is: as we serve and disciple others, we give them the opportunity to find purpose, receive freedom, and step into their calling, thus bringing forth the Kingdom of God on earth.” By John Negrila DAY 10: Our Leaders - City, State, & Nation Family, in these tumultuous days, we need to pray for our leaders, those men and women who govern our city, state, and country. As we pray together, we look to examples of godly men called to lead God’s people. Men such as Joseph, who honored God in all he did, rose f rom slavery and imprisonment to become the second most powerful man in Egypt. He applied godly wisdom to govern and save all of Egypt and his own family, the patriarchs of the future nation of Israel. Four hundred years later, God chose Moses to free His people from Egyptian slavery. No one man can govern over a million people, and we see in Deuteronomy 16:18-20 that Moses reminded his people as they prepared to enter the promised land to appoint judges and officers and to “follow what is altogether just, that you may live and inherit the land which the Lord your God is giving you.” Joshua obeyed God as instructed and courageously led God’s people to conquer the promised land, eventually creating the biblical nation of Israel. Proverbs 16:20 says, “He who heeds the word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.” Proverbs 23:12 says, “Apply your heart to instruction, and your ears to words of knowledge.” These men all overcame fear and doubt, obeyed God, and trusted the Heavenly Father to move mountains. They were wrapped in God's fortitude, obeyed Him, and constantly sought out His wisdom. They accomplished great feats because of the Lord’s mercy and grace, leading His people through the most incredible challenges of their time, and the Lord provided the miracles. Let's not forget the power of prayer in supporting our leaders. Let’s pray that our leaders will gain and apply godly wisdom, that they will look heavenward for direction, and that our Heavenly Father will fortify them against popular opinion and the ways of this world…that they will trust and draw nearer to God, honor and obey Him, and lead our country to walk in the Lord’s ways. By Joe Tolentino DAY 11: City & Nation It was around the top of the New Year, 1993, when a pastor in a city in west Florida heeded the voice of God to have his church devote themselves to prayer. He swiftly turned the Sunday night service into a prayer service. They devoted themselves to prayer for roughly two and a half years...Without ceasing. Then, on June 18, 1995, Father’s Day, God supernaturally poured out His Spirit, which birthed the Brownsville Revival/Great Pensacola Outpouring, which spread like wildfire, gripping not only the city of Pensacola but this nation. Every great move of God within our nation has always had one thing in common and always will: It is preceded by prayer. Without our prayers, God cannot move or do anything, and we allow our nation to be overrun by evil, chaos, and darkness. In 1 Timothy 1:1-2, Paul makes an appeal, saying, “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them, intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.” Paul presents more than a suggestion but an earnest charge...PRAY! It is clear we are to continue and even increase in prayer. It’s time we take back our city and our nation. It’s time for us to see our nation in the condition that God intended. Apostle Theo always says, “God can do nothing without our prayers.” So let’s pray for all people, especially those in authority...Let’s pray God help them, let’s pray standing in the gap for them, let’s pray giving thanks for them. Without ceasing! And when we do, just like God poured out His Spirit back in 1995, He’ll pour out His Spirit now in even greater measure so that our nation will be blessed and experience supernatural increase in every way. And as Paul said, we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity! By Vernard Walker DAY 12: Business Owners / Personal Finance “Give me an understanding heart…” (1 Kings 3:9 NLT). Some of the most powerful conversations with God come during or after a thorough examination of our lives, specifically, an examination of our hearts and the foundational truths that embody them. Part of managing our lives successfully is the ability to foresee and prepare. Just like Solomon's wisdom came from a deep connection with God, a nourished relationship brings success in everyday life. Remember, God rewards those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6) and show compassion for others. So, make deepening your connection with God a priority. Our primary focus should not be on the accumulation of wealth but on His Kingdom and fulfilling His divine purpose. Solomon never prayed for financial blessings. Instead, he prayed for wisdom to execute God’s wishes, and because of that, God rewarded him lavishly. By honoring the Abrahamic covenant through tithing, we activate specific rights and privileges, like blessings on the harvest we sow. Sowing or giving involves varying degrees of sacrifice. When we cheerfully give sacrificially, we prevent any selfish tendencies from growing within our hearts. “The language of love is giving” (Tison, 2014). 2 Corinthians 9:10, “God gives seed to the farmer and food to those who need to eat. God will also give you seed and multiply it. In your lives he will increase the things you do that have his approval.” (GW) God uses the hearts of generous people to build and establish the works of His kingdom. “A generous person will be made rich, and whoever satisfies others will himself be satisfied.” (Proverbs 11:25 GW) “Generosity is both the vaccine and the antidote to greed” (Tison, 2014). It is in the grace of God and His grace only that we must trust for our prosperity: “You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.” (2 Corinthians 8:9 NLT) By Ps Ed Hall DAY 15: Right to Life & Freedom Psalm 115:14-15 (AMP) May the Lord give you [great] increase, You and your children. May you be blessed of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. It has been two years since the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Dobbs case and overturned Roe v Wade. This returned the fight against abortion to the state courts. This ruling did not end abortion. We must keep our foot on the gas and our heads bowed in prayer for the Pro-Life movement. The enemy is relentless and has already found ways to circumvent the states’ attempt to end the taking of the life of a baby in the womb. This is not just about stopping abortion; this includes gender-altering surgeries on our children and the right to life for our elderly and mentally challenged citizens, and now we are contending against the abortion pill that can be easily found and received by mail to end a woman’s pregnancy. As daunting as these actions can sound, we serve a MIGHTY GOD. He knew us all before we were even formed and has plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future. Heavenly Father, we declare and intercede tonight, during this hour of prayer, that You rule and reign over the earth. Praise You for revealing the schemes and plans in the enemy camp. Nothing is hidden from you; all will be revealed. As your church, your body, we release all of your heavenly hosts to go out over the earth and push back and cancel the enemy’s agendas, rendering them powerless. Holy Spirit, open the eyes of the blind to the reality and truth that we are killing our next generation, harming our children mentally and physically, implanting gender confusion, and casting off the elderly and mentally ill as no longer useful or wanted. We repent for allowing this for as long as we have and ask for Your forgiveness. Guide us by the Holy Spirit into action and prayer to make positive changes in our society and culture. By Connie Wilke DAY 16: The Lost & Backslidden Luke 9:62 (NKJV) But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” We must begin by acknowledging the seriousness of being backslidden. Let’s not kid ourselves: This territory can’t be viewed as merely a spiritual inconvenience, nor a less-thanideal tier of Christianity. Our friends and family who are not walking with the Lord are in dangerous waters. But praise the Lord, there is hope: Ezekiel 33:11 (NKJV) …’As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’ Amen! God is merciful! Of this, there can be no doubt. In fact, you probably could tell story after story of God’s goodness in your own life. From the fall of Adam until today, the Father God has earnestly desired to restore man to relationship with himself — both the lost (those who have never known him) and the backslidden (those who knew him but turned away). What if I think I’m backsliding? What keeps me secure? Psalm 37:31 (NKJV) The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide. The vaccine for backsliding is to fill my heart with the Word, to build my house upon the Word of God by hearing and putting into practice His precepts and decrees. But what about others? How do I help the people I care so much about and everyone that Jesus died for? Proverbs 12:1 (NKJV) The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes. We cannot force a person to change. But God can touch their heart, and He will — if we pray. Today our role is to intercede for the lost and backslidden, standing in faith that God is at work, turning their hearts like a stream of water. By Ps David Daniel DAY 17: Dream Teamers The goal of all Christians is to one day stand before God and hear, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.’ That is the objective of our dream team at CFC. When we search out more of God, it opens up the heavens for God to supernaturally bring us increase. Let's take note of what promises are made to us in Psalm 115. Psalm 115:14-15 (AMP) May the Lord give you [great] increase, you and your children. May you be blessed of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. How do we receive this increase? By being in complete obedience to God. Family, God wants our love and obedience above all else. We must act on the word so God can pour into our vessels, to increase Christ in us. God’s children who display an attitude of servitude will inherit the kingdom and all it encompasses. We have a responsibility to use our gift to make a difference, to love and save lost souls into God’s kingdom. Say this: When we focus on eternity’s treasures – souls, God pours out provision. John 13:35: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” God knows our innermost being – what we think and do. God loves a humble heart. Prayer: Lord, we submit ourselves to your will. Establish in us your love for others, as your Son, Jesus, the ultimate example, loved us. We are ready to move in your plan, your timing, and your calling. Thank you for supernatural increase in every area of our lives. May we serve for your glory, amen! By Alina Negrila DAY 18: Bible Institute Today’s devotional turns our focus to the CFCI Bible Institute. Founded in 2007, the Bible Institute has over 120 campuses worldwide, with over 30,000 registered students. That certainly is a reason to give praise! Think of all those students who have taken that transformational journey, learning the fundamentals of doctrine and theology. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus gave us “The Great Commission”. He told us to “go and make disciples of all nations”. To be effective at making disciples, we need to BE disciples. By studying God’s Word, we learn how to pray for the lost, how to walk in God’s supernatural power, and how to apply the Word to our personal lives. Will we be able to learn all there is to know about Jesus if we only attend weekend services? Five-minute morning devotionals are a great way to start your day, is it likely we will develop a deep understanding and close personal relationship with Jesus if that’s our main source of God’s Word? There’s so much more for us to learn! Our theme Scripture is Psalm 115:14-15 (AMP): May the LORD give you [great] increase, You and your children. May you be blessed of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. All of us can increase our knowledge of God by intentionally studying the Word. The Bible Institute equips and empowers students to fulfill their God-given purpose, and it provides an avenue for students to become better equipped to MAKE disciples. Jesus gave us The Great Commission, to go and make disciples. Let’s start with ourselves – commit to taking the 1st year of Bible Institute and see what God will do. Lord, we pray for the Bible Institute's success. We pray for new students to register, for their financial provision and for the endurance to continue in their studies. We lift up the faculty, that they would have an increase in wisdom and grace to carry out their assignment. Lord, we thank you for CFCI Bible Institute and the role it plays in making disciples throughout the nations. By Deb Myers DAY 19: Our Church’s Vision In his book "Start With Why," Simon Sinek defines vision as “the ability to see what cannot be seen.” This concept resonates deeply with me and reminds me of 2 Corinthians 4:18: "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." The vision God instills in our hearts is an eternal promise, reaching beyond our lives to touch everyone we encounter. Habakkuk 2:2 encourages us to “Write the vision and make it plain.” This is beautifully reflected in the vision statement of Christian Family Church (CFC): "To bring people into the family of Jesus Christ, develop them to Christian maturity, and equip them for their ministry in the church to magnify God’s name." At CFC, we envision lost souls finding salvation. We see individuals filled with the Holy Spirit, the message of God’s love, prepared to share the Gospel and guide others toward Christ. This vision of eternal fellowship with the Lord should shape all our actions and decisions. This vision drives us to transcend our limitations. By holding steadfast to this vision, we are reminded that our efforts have eternal significance, echoing the promise of God's kingdom. United as a family in Christ, we move forward, believing that God’s vision is real and at the heart of our hope and mission. Every step we take brings us closer to fulfilling the vision God has placed in our hearts, confident that His eternal promises will be realized. Estee Lauder once said, “All great things begin with a vision… a dream… I’ve always believed that success comes from not letting your eyes stray from that target. Anyone who wants to achieve a dream must stay focused, strong, and steady.” With a clear vision of God's mission guiding us, we can devote our energy to it every day and reach this lost and dying world with the Gospel.
