Art has an emotional context.  Art sparks questions in those who look at it.  Art has varied meanings that can be different based on a A R T person’s experiences INSPIRES and emotions. WHAT IS ART? DESIGN M O T I VAT E S  Good design will motivate a person to do something or display a direct message. WHAT IS ART? A R T IS INTERPRETED  Art connects with people in different ways, because it’s interpreted differently. WHAT aim  Design IS ART? to solve problems or provide information.  Design communicates DESIGN a distinct message. IS UNDERSTOOD WHAT IS ART? A R T IS A T A S T E  Art is judged by opinion, and opinion is governed by taste. WHAT IS ART? DESIGN IS AN OPINION  Design has an element of taste, but the difference between good and bad design is largely a matter of opinion.  Artistic ability is a A R T talent that a IS A person is TA L E N T born with.  It can be cultivated and refined but part of the ability is innate. WHAT IS ART? DESIGN IS A S K I L L  Design can be taught and learned.  You do not have to be a great artist to be a great designer; you just have to be able to achieve the objectives of design. WHAT IS ART? A R T SENDS A DIFFERENT  Artists create it MESS AGE solely as a means of self- expression, so that it can be viewed and appreciated by others. The message, if we WHAT IS ART?  Design is intended to accomplish a specific task or communicate a DESIG particular N message, no SENDS THE matter how SAME beautiful, is not MESSAGE art.
