# Mometrix ## DIC - Necrotizing enterocolitis ## Laboratory findings vary: - Chest radiograph may show pneumonia. - CT/MRI may show abscesses, obstructive hydrocephalus. - Ultrasound may show abnormalities of ventricles and brain structures (meningitis). - Thrombocytopenia 50, and those who are immunocompromised. There is no specific test to confirm a diagnosis of septic shock, so diagnosis is based on clinical findings and tests that evaluate hematologic, infectious, and metabolic states: CBC, DIC panel, electrolytes, liver function tests, BUN, creatinine, blood glucose, ABGs, urinalysis, ECG, radiographs, blood and urine cultures. ## Treatment must be aggressive and includes: - Oxygen and endotracheal intubation as necessary. - IV access with 2-large bore catheters and central venous line. - Rapid fluid administration of NS at 10 ml./kg, which may be repeated, or isotonic crystalloid every 5-10 minutes - Monitoring urinary output. - Inotropic agents (dopamine, dobutamine, norepinephrine) if no response to fluids or fluid overload. - Empiric IV antibiotic therapy (usually with 2 broad spectrum antibiotics for both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria) until cultures return and antibiotics may be changed. - Hemodynamic and laboratory monitoring. - Removing source of infection (abscess, catheter). ## Septic shock Response to ranging: - Initial increase hyper unstable - Cardiac - Respiratory - Renal - Hepatic and bilirubin - Hematologic, neutropenia - Endocrine - Skin ## Bacterial Meningitis - **Early** progressive hypoglycemia, hepato - **Late** hyper metabolic - **More** suction sign - **Treatment includes** therapy usual by examining sign and Bru ## Ophthalmia Neonatorum - Conjunctivitis irritants. If neonatorum - Path can routine. - Antibiotic eyes herpes - Untreated, g purulent dis.
