Classification of living organisms G.R: Living organisms must be classified To facilitate their studying. 1- According to Their external shape : a- Some pants can’t be distinguished into roots, stems and leaves. Example : green, red and brown algae. b- Most of plants are distinguished into roots, stem and leaves. Example: corn, wheat and palms. 51 2- According to their way of reproduction : Plants reproduce by 1. Formation of spores. In the small terrestrial plants (ferns). Ex: Vougheir - Adiantum. 2. Formation of seeds: a) Gymnosperms Their seeds are formed inside cones not inside pericarp. Ex: Pine – Cycas. b) Angiosperms “Flowering Plants” Their seeds are formed inside a pericarp They are divided into: 1. Monocotyledon plant: Ex: Maize – Wheat 2. Dicotyledonous plant Ex: Peas - Beans. 52
