Dry Creek Valley AVA is home to high quality old vine Zinfandel and valley floor vineyards are better suited to Sauvignon Blanc. Alexander Valley AVA is warmer, and its wines tend to be fleshier and more full-bodied, it has built a reputation for soft-textured, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon. North of Sonoma County the Mendocino County includes the very cool Anderson Valley AVA, a source of grapes for aromatic white wines such as Riesling and Gewurztraminer.** **Santa Cruz Mountains AVA: this moderate climate produce some of the most elegant Cabernet Sauvignon as well as some high quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.** **Monterey AVA: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have been heavily planted. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah are grown.** **Paso Robles AVA: notable planting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and high quality Zinfandel.** **Santa Maria Valley AVA: significantly cooler, well suited for Chardonnar and Pinot Noir displaying concentrated fruit flavour and high acidity.** **Finger Lakes AVA: quality of its perfumed Rieslings.
