RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT OVERVIEW RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT Concept Resource Land as a Resource Development of resources → Steps taken ?? Land utilization Resource Planning → Need?? Land use pattern in India. 3 step Resource Planning in India Land degradation and conservation measures. Conservation of Resources Soil as a resource Classification of soil Soil erosion and soil conservation. MUST KNOW SECTION Development of resource ,Resource planning or Conservation of Resources se subjective questions aate hai CBSE Board Paper 2020 - Set [32/4/1] Describe the importance of an equitable distribution of resources in the society. OR How is overgrazing responsible for land degradation in Gujarat ? MUST KNOW SECTION MCQ based on the identification of soil on the basis of some given statements( mota mati soils dhayan rakhna h ) CBSE Board Paper 2024 - Set [32/1/3] Question. Identify the soil with the help of following information. a. It develops in areas with high temperature. b. It is the result of intense leaching due to heavy rain. c. Humus content is low. Options : (a) Arid soil (b) Laterite soil (c) Yellow soil (d) Black soil CBSE Board Paper 2020 - Set [32/3/1] Read the following features of a soil and name the related soil : (a) Develops in high rainfall area (b) Intense leaching process takes place. (c) Humus content is low. Practice Questions Mention three problems that are associated with the indiscriminate use of resources. The following three problems are the result of indiscriminate use of resources: Depletion of resources for satisfying the greed of few individuals. Accumulation of resources in few hands, which in turn has divided the society into two segments-rich and poor. Indiscriminate exploitation of resources has led to global ecological crises such as global warming, ozone layer depletion, environmental pollution and land degradation. Practice Questions Why do we need resource planning, explain with an example? Describe the 3 stages of resource planning in India? Resource planning is the strategy for the judicious use of resources because there is a diversity in the availability of resources, some regions are rich in certain types of resources and some regions are deficient in resources. So to make a balance and ensure the availability of resources in the country we need proper resource planning in the country. Example -In India, Rajasthan is rich in solar and wind energy resource but deficient in water resource on the other hand Arunachal pradesh has abundance of water resource but lake in solar and wind energy due to lacks in infrastructural development. The 3 stages of resource planning in India are i)Identification and Inventory of resources across the regions of the country. like surveying, mapping and measurement of the resources of the region where the resources are available. ii) Developing resource development plans and Making a proper planning structure with the use of appropriate technology, skill and institutional set up for implementing the plan. iii) Matching the resource development plans with overall national development plans. Practice Questions What is Land degradation? What are the factors responsible for it? Suggest any four steps to control land degradation. Land degradation refers to the decrease in the quality and productivity of the land and leads to the loss of biodiversity, reduced agricultural productivity, and can enhance issues like desertification and soil erosion. Following are the factors responsible for Land degradation. Human activities such as deforestation, overgrazing, mining and improper agricultural practices are the major reasons for the Land degradation and some natural processes also lead to land degradation such as climate change and erosion. Measures to control land degradation. i) Afforestation or planting of trees. ii) In arid regions, planting shelter belts of plants and control on overgrazing. iii) Proper discharge and disposal of industrial and agricultural waste. iv) proper management of wastelands and control of mining activities. v) Use of proper agricultural practices, such as controlling over irrigation and proper use of chemical fertilisers.
