Nakikita sa mga ito ang pandaigdigang pananaw (worldview) ng ating mga ninuno. Ang ating kinagisnang sikolohiya ay isang batayan ng SP. Sikolohiyang Pilipino Batayan ng Sikolohiyang Pilipino 1. Kinagisnang Sikolohiya, tulad ng mga aral at ritwal ng mga babaylan, mga dalangin, bulong, kwentong-bayan, alamat at epiko 2. Ang tao at ang kanyang diwa 3. Ang panahon ng pagbabagong isip 4. (Enriquez, 1976) Sikolohiyang Pilipino In 1985, Enriquez defined Sikolohiyang Pilipino as “the study of diwa” (psyche) DIWA – Filipino directly refers to the wealth of ideas referred to by the philosophical concept of “essence” and an entire range of psychological concepts from awareness to motives to behavior. Enriquez ignited the rise of Filipino Psychology as indigenous viewpoint in Psychology by questioning the validity of using the western psychological concepts advocating for “Sikolohiyang Pilipino” that would be based in the experiences, ideas and orientations of the Filipinos. - “Father of Filipino Psychology” Noted Filipino Contributors VIRGILIO ENRIQUEZ In 1975, he chaired the Unang Pambansang Kumperensya sa Sikolohiyang Pilipino wherein the ideas, concepts, and formulations of Sikolohiyang Pilipino were formally articulated. - Established the Philippine Psychology Research House (PPRH) or Philippine Psychology Research and Training House (PPRTH) Noted Filipino Contributors VIRGILIO ENRIQUEZ - He came up with a definition of psychology that takes into account the study of emotions and experienced knowledge (kalooban and kamalayan), awareness of one’s surroundings (ulirat), information and understanding (isip), habits and behavior (another meaning of diwa), and the soul (kaluluwa) which is the way to learning about people’s conscience. Naging tagapanulo si AGUSTIN ALONZO. 1930 Itinatag ang Departamento ng Sikolohiya sa University of Sto.Tomas. 1932 Sinimulan ni SINFOROSO PADILLA ang Psychological Clinic sa U.P. 1933 Inumpisahan ni JESUS PERPINAN ang Far Eastern University Psychological Clinic. 1938 Itinaguyod ni ANGEL DE BLAS, OP ang Experimental Psychology Laboratory sa UST. 1948 Itinatag ni ESTEFANIA ALDABA-LIM ang Institute of Human Relations sa Philippine Women’s University. 1954 Itinatag ni FR. JOSEPH GOERTZ (German) ang Departamento ng Sikolohiya sa University of San Carlos. 1960 Itinatag ni FR. JAIME BULATAO, SJ - Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology from Fordham one of the founding fathers of psychology in the Philippines. -contends that “face to face group discussion can be a tremendous power for growth”… teach persons to respect and understand and trust others and develop in citizens a true sense of responsibility. “HIYA” Hiya – Fr. Jaime Bulatao (1965) defined hiya as the painful emotion arising from a relationship with an authority figure or society that inhibits self- assertion, even during situations perceived as dangerous to one’s character. Lynch (1970) considered “hiya” shame associated with the unpleasant experience of embarrassment that prevents one from wrongdoing. Noted Filipino Contributors ZEUS A. SALAZAR - Showed internal and external aspects of hiya; - Asserted that the more appropriate translation of hiya in English is “SENSE OF PROPRIETY” Noted Filipino Contributors CARMEN SANTIAGO - Introduced on her articles the “pakapa-kapa” (groping) approach. - Did a study on “pagkalalaki” Noted Filipino Contributors TOMAS ANDRES Bahala Na – expression derived from the Filipino word Bathala (God). It is the “come what may” or “que sera sera” attitude; don’t exert any effort because God will take care of everything, the religious belief that people are governed by forces beyond their control. Tomas Andres published the Dictionary of Filipino Culture and Values, he still defines bahala na as ‘‘the Filipino attitude that makes him accept sufferings and problems, leaving everything to God. ‘Bahala na ang Diyos (God will take care of us) (Andres, 1994, p. 12). When Filipinos utter the expression ‘‘Bahala na!’’ they are telling themselves that they are ready to face the difficult situation before them, and will do their best to achieve their objectives. Lourdes Carandang - Clinical Psychologist who stated the importance of ”pakikipagkapwa-damdamin” in helping child disaster program. - “Tagasalo or mananalo” syndrome in counseling Filipino under stress. Noted Filipino Contributors TAGASALO SYNDROME (Mananalo) - Salo: to catch - Taga: one who catches - Refers to the one who “takes care, or “one who comes to the rescue.” Noted Filipino Contributors TAGASALO SYNDROME (Mananalo) - The TAGASALO is a responsible and caring person, a listener and a mediator, intent on harmony and dependable person in the family. - Take charge in efforts at relieving tension and resolving conflicts in the family. - Person who influences the family’s dynamics, who actually holds power and who seeks to be in control. *Bit similar to Adler’s redeemer’s complex Noted Filipino Contributors TAGASALO SYNDROME (Mananalo) - Sometimes the need to “salo” becomes unconscious, indiscriminate and compulsive – leading to negative consequences for both the rescuer and the rescued. - The “tagasalo” only stops to look at herself when she gets physically drained, ill, or burnt out. - Behavior of “mananalo” is unconsciously determined. - One has a choice to do or not to do so comes only after weighing the situation confronting her.
