Polymers DNA and RNA are polynucleotide chains Sugar-phosphate backbone of DNA is composed of phosphodiester bonds C. Function DNA – Heredity RNA – Protein production 5`-phosphate (on the phosphate group) bonds to the 3` -carbon (of the sugar) of the next nucleotide in line Adenosine Triphosphate ATP Ribose Sugar, Adenine, Three Phosphate groups Removal of the last phosphate releases energy to be transferred around living organisms!
