EUSEBIO, Grace PESIGAN, Kate Ann Dherlinn CALABARZON -CALABARZON is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, with its lush green forests, crystal-clear lakes, and pristine beaches. The region is also known for its rolling hills and majestic mountains, which provide a picturesque backdrop to its cities and towns, and is not only rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage, but it is also a region that is rich in economic opportunities. The region is also known for its high-quality education, with many universities and colleges located in its cities and towns. Major Cultural Groups A vast majority of people living in CALABARZON are Tagalogs. It is estimated that around 5.8 million Tagalogs live in Region IV-A. Tagalog Cavite -imus CAVITE Is located on the southern shores of Manila Bay and southwest of Manila, It is approximately around two to three hours or 33 kilometers from the capital city of Manila. it is one of the most industrialized and fastest- growing provinces in the Philippines. Filipino (Tagalog dialect) and English are the languages spoken commonly. The native dialect, Caviteño or Chabacano, is only spoken in some areas of the city. CAVITE -Cavite is also known as "Land of the Brave" Also, Cavite is notable for being the hometown of Filipino national leaders such as former President Emilio Aquinaldo. -Cavite has a total population of 4,344,829, making it the most populous province. The population of Cavite was higher by 666,528 individuals compared with the 2015 count of 3,678,301. -7 municipalities and 6 cities with a total of 829 barangays ATTRACTION TAGAYTAY CITY a popular tourist destination in Cavite province, known for its cool climate, scenic views, and numerous attractions. It is on a ridge above Taal Lake, and visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the lake and the Taal Volcano from various vantage points in the city. ATTRACTION Aguinaldo Shrine -an important historical site in Kawit, Cavite, Philippines. has been preserved as a museum and is open for tours that you can get for free! Visitors can explore the various rooms of the house, which are filled with artefacts and exhibits related to Philippine history, including weapons, furniture, and personal items of Aguinaldo and other historical figures. ATTRACTION Corregidor Island Is a small rocky island located at the entrance of Manila Bay in Cavite, Philippines. It played a crucial role in the defence of Manila during World War II and is now a popular destination for history enthusiasts and tourists. GASTRONOMY BIBINGKOY Bibingkoy is a type Filipino rice cake from the city of Cavite prepared with baked glutinous rice dough filled with sweetened coconut milk sauce GASTRONOMY TAMALES is a dish highly influenced by Mexico where rice, coconut milk, chicken, boled eggs and sausages is cooked with rice flour and coconut milk wrapped in banana leaf then steamed. Even though it is not originated in the philippines but still Caveteño has it own way to cook tamales in a more delicious way GASTRONOMY CALANDRACAS Is a popular soup in Cavite City wherein it uses ham as its bases and it has potatoes, carrots, chickpeas, chicken, cabbage, chorizo, and sotanghon with the seasoning of patis tanza. REGADA FESTIVAL Regada is a festival in Cavite City in which the merry-making is centered on sprinkling water. It is a week-long celebration starting on the second week of June and ends on the feast day of St. John the Baptist, June 24 WAGAYWAY FESTIVAL Cavite Wagayway Festival is celebrated every 28th of May in Imus, Cavite to commemorate the Battle of Alapan where many Filipinos following the lead of General Emilio Aguinaldo risked their lives against the conquering Spaniards. Tagged as “wagayway” (wave), the historical Imus is the place when the Philippine Flag was first waved to signify a won battle. The said festival is a reminder of the fact that Imus was where the first wave of flag happened. And through this festival, people are reminded of the pride that Imus holds as a significant part of history. PARUPARO FESTIVAL Paruparo festival Dasmariñas, Cavite The City of Dasmarinas, Cavite celebrates the Paruparo Festival every 26th of November. The first Paruparo Festival was launched in November 26, 2011 coinciding with the 2nd Cityhood Anniversary of Dasmarinas. The metamorphosis of the butterfly resembles the events that the city underwent towards becoming a progressive city. Due to the rains in November 26, 2016, the Paruparo Festival was rescheduled to the 3rd day of December g u n a L a u z t a c r - S a n LAGUNA -Laguna is a province just southeast of Manila and Laguna de Bay, in the Philippines. It has a vibrant economy producing coconuts, rice, sugar, citrus fruits, lanzones, and other goods worth millions of pesos. LAGUNA - Laguna is notable as the birthplace of José Rizal, the country's de facto national hero. -Laguna is also known as the "Detroit of the Philippines". -The primary language is Tagalog ATTRACTION Mount Makiling is one of the best places for you to visit in Laguna. But beware: this hike is not for the faint of heart! Its steep, reclining mountainside is proof that Mt. Makiling was once an active volcano, with even seasoned hikers rating it a difficult hike. But despite the level of difficulty, the 17.5-kilometer trail located in Los Baños, Laguna features amazing views, wildflowers, and is also considered a sanctuary for endangered species. ATTRACTION Japanese Garden Another attraction that’s nestled in Cavinti along Lake Caliraya is a historic treasure that was built during World War II by Japanese occupants. As you enter the Japanese Garden, large canopies of towering trees will invite you to leisurely explore more of this peaceful tourism spot ATTRACTION Caliraya Resort Club Perfect for both kids and kids at heart, Caliraya Resort Club’s fun recreational facilities such as the Slide Pinoy, horseback riding, and their Floating Playground are sure to have you smiling from ear to ear during your whole stay. This 7.8 hectare of green landscape atop the mountains of Caliraya in Lumban, Laguna is such a popular destination for team buildings that they crafted special packages to help teams achieve their goals. ATTRACTION Enchanted Kingdom Enchanted Kingdom boasts of “themed entertainment” in each zone. It also has a variety of musical shows throughout the season using in-house and TV network partner talents. Entertainment and special events are usually held at any of the aforementioned venues. GASTRONOMY ESPASOL Espasol is a Filipino rice cake shaped like a cylinder originating in the Laguna province and traditionally sold during the Christmas season. It consists of rice flour, which is cooked in coconut milk and coconut stripes and is poured into toasting rice meal. GASTRONOMY BUKO PIE Buko Pie is a traditional Filipino coconut custard cake, often referred to as a coconut pie. It is recognized in the town of Los Baños in the province of Laguna. It is similar to a cream pie that is very popular in Filipinos, and the only difference is Buko pie is made with young coconut, no creams, and custard fillings. Buko Pie uses lighter and denser sweetened milk, and it's filling is made up of coconut meat. Buko Pie also uses slightly different ingredients, including macapuno tarts, a thick and sticky special type of coconut. GASTRONOMY KESONG PUTI Kesong puti is a Philippine cheese made of soft and non-aged carabao milk and salt curdled with vinegar, citrus, or rennet juices. It is also possible to use goat or cow's milk to make Kesong Puti. Kesong puti was originated in Sta. Cruz, Laguna. GASTRONOMY BIBINGKA Bibingka varies from your standard recipe. It's quick and tasty. No toppings, just a simple dish. They use a clay pot and banana leaves in cooking Bibingka instead of using stoves. Underneath the fire, there were hot coals, this traditional way of cooking Bibingka make it more delicious. ANILAG FESTIVAL known as the "Mother of Harvest Festivals", is a weeklong celebration held annually in March in Laguna's capital town of Sta. Cruz. The festival was first held in 2004, but despite only being celebrated for a few years. The festival is full of activities like street dance competitions, float contests, and various music competitions. TSINELAS FESTIVAL Gat Tayaw, Liliw, Laguna is also known as the "Footwear Capital of Laguna" because the footwear industry is consistently growing and developing. With that said, Tsinelas Festival is celebrated annually in the last week of April. A parade of floats showcases the agricultural and industrial products of Liliw which includes a variety of shoes produced locally. PINYA FESTIVAL Every 15th of May, the municipality of Calauan, Laguna celebrates the Pinya Festival. Pinya Festival started in the year of 1999. The festival's goal is to promote the pineapple and other agricultural products of Calauan. Beautiful and grand floats are exhibited through a parade wherein different barangays in the city participate. There is also a street dancing competition where the dancers are wearing colorful costumes. Batangas -Batangas city BATANGAS Region - Calabarzon Capital. - Batangas City Founded - December 8, 1581 “originally called "Balayan," Named for - "batang," which refers to the large logs that were seen floating in the Calumpang River, Population Rank: 3rd most populous province in the CALABARZON Language and People: Tagalog/Batangueño BATANGAS Divisions Cities: Batangas has 3 component cities: Batangas City (Capital) Lipa City Tanauan City Municipalities:31 Barangays:1,078 barangays Batangas (Tagalog: Lalawigan ng Batangas), (Spanish: Provincia de Batangas), is a first class province of the Philippines located on the southwestern part of Luzon in the CALABARZON region. Batangas is often referred to by its ancient name, Kumintáng. Nicknames: Land of Rolling Hills and Wide Shore Lands. Lalawigan ng mga Magigiting. Batangas is a trade and food-processing centre for an agricultural area made fertile by volcanic soil—rice, sugarcane, and coconuts being the major crops and beef cattle the major livestock. The city also has fisheries and an oil refinery. At the nearby village of Santa Rita are lumber mills. Taal volcano Taal Volcano: An active volcano situated in Taal Lake, it's famous for its picturesque views and hiking opportunities. Taal Volcano is known as one of the world’s smallest active volcanoes, standing only about 311 meters (1,020 feet) above sea level. Despite its small size, it is very dangerous due to its powerful eruptions and the presence of a large population in the surrounding areas. fORTUNE ISLAND a small, private island located off the coast of Nasugbu in Batangas, Philippines. Known for its stunning natural beauty, white sandy beaches, and clear waters, it has become a popular destination for both local and international tourists. Fortune Island offers a unique blend of natural beauty, historical intrigue, and recreational opportunities, making it a favorite destination for beach lovers, adventure seekers, and those looking for a tranquil escape in Batangas Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, commonly known as Taal Basilica, is located in Taal, Batangas. It is one of the most important churches in the Philippines, recognized for its historical significance, architectural beauty, and religious importance. The church was originally founded in 1571 and has undergone several reconstructions due to damage from natural disasters, including earthquakes. Lomi Batangas Special Lomi Batangas is loaded with various types of meat and offal, such as crispy pork belly, pork liver, chicharon (pork rind), regular pork meat, kikiam, fish balls, and/or squid balls; kapeng Barako A strong, aromatic coffee that originates from Batangas BULALO A hearty beef marrow soup, perfect for cold days. Sublian Festival When: July Highlights: Celebrated in honor of the city's patron saint, San Sebastian, the Sublian Festival features lively street dancing, parades, and cultural performances. Participants wear traditional Filipino attire and showcase the "Subli," a dance that combines religious and cultural elements (Lipa City) Parada ng Lechon When: January 9 Highlights: This festival is a grand feast and a parade celebrating the town’s culinary specialty—lechon (roasted pig). Various barangays (neighborhoods) prepare their best lechon and showcase them in a lively procession, accompanied by music and dance. Taal Banga Festival When: APRIL Highlights: Celebrated in the town of San Juan, this festival highlights the town's pottery-making tradition. It features a street dance competition, showcasing the creativity of local artisans and the significance of the banga (pot) in Batangas culture. Batangas Rizal -Antipolo Rizal Region -Calabarzon Capital -Antipolo Antipolo was founded on February 28, 1571. Antipolo is believed to be named after the local tree "tipolo" (Artocarpus blancoi), which was abundant in the area. The city's population is over 800,000 Tagalog 13 municipalities 1 city. 16 barangays Rizal province is known for its stunning natural beauty, including picturesque mountains, waterfalls, and lakes. Morong was considered the province before it was called Rizal. Its original name was Politico Militar Distrito de Morong, which included the towns that make up present-day Rizal province. The province was officially established on June 11, 1901, named after José Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines. MT DARAITAN Mount Daraitan is an ideal location for a variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking, spelunking, and camping Mount Daraitan stands at about 739 meters (2,424 feet) above sea level. Though it is not as tall as other mountains in the Philippines, its trails can be challenging due to steep inclines. The "Sea of Clouds" effect is often visible in the early morning, especially during colder months. PINTO ART MUSEUM Pinto Art Museum was founded by Dr. Joven Cuanang, a neurologist and art collector, whose vision was to create a space where art, culture, and nature intersect. His goal was to promote Philippine contemporary art and provide a platform for Filipino artists to showcase their works. "Pinto" means "door" in Filipino, symbolizing the museum’s aim to be a gateway to art and culture, not just for artists but for the community at large. DARANAK FALLS Daranak Falls is a picturesque waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. The 14-meter high falls cascade into a natural pool with cool, turquoise waters, creating a serene and beautiful environment. KARE-KARE Kare-kare is a Philippine stew that features a thick savory peanut sauce KALAMAY Calamay is a sticky and sweet delicacy. It is made of glutinous rice flour, coconut milk and sugar, usually palm or brown sugar. KALDERETA Caldereta is a Filipino meat stew influenced by Spanish flavours. Its name comes from the Spanish word caldera, meaning cauldron HIGANTES FESTIVAL Higantes Festival is a secular celebration initiated by the Municipality of Angono to express gratitude to its patron Saint Clement, in which the parade of giants is held on Sunday before the town feast on November 23. SUMBINGTIK FESTIVAL Municipality of Cainta The SumBingTik Festival is an annual cultural festival held on December 1 in Cainta, Rizal, along the town's founding anniversary and feast of Our Lady of Light, the patron saint of the town. The festival was first celebrated in 2014. Hamaka Festival When: Every third Sunday of February Where: Taytay, Rizal What: This week-long cultural and thanksgiving festival honors Taytay's garments and woodworking industries. The town is recognized as the "Garments and Woodworks Capital of the Philippines," and the festival showcases local craftsmanship through various events and exhibitions QUEZON Lucena Quezon, officially the Province of Quezon, is a province in the Philippines located in the Calabarzon region on Luzon. KALAYAAN was the first known name of the province upon its creation in 1591. Around the middle of the 18th century, it was renamed TAYABAS. In 1946, in recognition of the second president of the Philippines, Manuel L. Quezon, the name of Tayabas Province was changed to QUEZON. Lucena, the provincial capital, the seat of the provincial government, and the most populous city of the province, is governed independently from the province as a highly urbanized city. To distinguish the province from Quezon City, it is sometimes called Quezon Province, a variation of the province's official name. ATTRACTION Kamay ni Hesus Shrine (Luchan) also known as the Healing Church of the Risen Christ and commonly known as the Kamay ni Hesus Shrine featuring a 50-foot statue of Jesus Christ atop a hill. Visitors can climb over 300 steps to reach the statue and enjoy a scenic view, while the complex also includes a healing church and several religious statues. ATTRACTION Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort (Tiaong) is an 800 hectares of working coconut plantation and hacienda in Tiaong, Quezon, 10 kilometres south of the city of San Pablo, Laguna on the border with Quezon. Since 1981, the plantation has opened its doors as a resort offering village tours, a museum tour, food and accommodations. It has developed a worldwide reputation as a focal point to experience Philippine culture and history in a beautiful rural setting ATTRACTION Mt. Banahaw Also spelled as Banahao and Banájao) is an active complex volcano on Luzon in the Philippines. The three- peaked volcano is located at the boundary of Laguna and Quezon provinces. It is the highest mountain in both provinces and Calabarzonregion, dominating the landscape for miles around GASTRONOMY Pancit habhab A local noodle dish popular in Lucban, typically served on a banana leaf and eaten without utensils. GASTRONOMY Lucban Longganisa Lucban Longganisa - A garlicky and slightly sour pork sausage unique to Lucban. GASTRONOMY Puto Bao Puto Bao - A traditional delicacy from Sariaya made from glutinous rice and coconut milk, filled with sweetened coconut meat. Pahiyas Festival (Luchan) Celebrated every May 15, this vibrant festival honors San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers. Houses are adorned with colorful rice decorations called "kiping," along with fruits, vegetables, and handicrafts in thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest. Niyogyugan Festival (Provincial) A celebration of Quezon Province's coconut industry, typically held in August. This week-long festival features colorful street parades, agricultural fairs, and cultural performances, highlighting the importance of coconuts in the local economy and culture. Araña’t Baluarte Festival (Gumaca) Held every May 15, this festival celebrates the town's agricultural abundance with intricately decorated "arañas" (chandeliers made of local produce) and "baluartes" (arches).
